Zac Efron’s R-rated Comedy

Zac Efron has definitely graduated from high school.

Ever since his High School Musical days ended, Efron has made it a mission to prove his versatile acting chops. First was the beloved Broadway musical, Hairspray, then the indie flick, Me and Orson Welles while returning back to comedy in 17 Again before drama and romance in Charlie St. Cloud.

Deadline.com reports that the teen heartthrob will now be starring along side certified funny man, Seth Rogen, as a partying college student in an R-rated comedy, whose character lives near Efron’s frat house and has his life turned upside down.

While this is typical Rogen material, Efron is taking a big leap in a new direction.

Efron can also be seen in the highly anticipated, New Years Eve out later this year and then is set to take on the thriller, The Paperboy starring Matthew McConaughey and Nicole Kidman.

Sean Kingston’s First Performance Since Accident

After surviving a near fatal jet-ski accident over Memorial Day weekend, singer Sean Kingston returned to the stage for the first time on July 22.

Kingston joined fellow rapper Nicki Minaj during her opening act performance at Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale tour in Miami.

The singer was critically injured when he crashed a jet ski into a bridge in Miami and spent several days in intensive care before being released from the hospital on June 22.

Look’s like Kingston is back in action.

After the concert he took to Twitter gushing about the experience. “Feels good to be baccck on stage!!!… I got a big surprise coming up for my fans real soon!!”

Glimpse into Season 2 of The Walking Dead

With the attention of geeks worldwide focused on San Diego ComicCon 2011 AMC has released the full trailer for season 2 of The Walking Dead. It is almost 5 full minutes of zombie goodness and gives some big clues into the direction next season will take for those of us who haven’t read the graphic novels.

Creator Robert Kirkman had this to say about season two; “There’s an expectation now. First season, nobody knew what was coming. I can say it’s made everybody work harder. It’s empowered us to try harder. We’re taking that seriously and really trying to deliver.”

I am very excited about the prospect of the main group splitting up. With a premise as basic as “undead zombies try to eat brainz of hapless humans” I enjoy seeing where the story leads.  The Walking Dead premieres Sunday October 16th and 9PM on AMC.

A&E Picks up Bag of Bones

A&E announced today that they will air a four-hour mini series based on the novel Bag of Bones by Stephen King and starring Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish. This is mild consolation in the wake of the news that The Dark Tower collapsed at Universal and is in search of a new home, but good news nonetheless. Bones was an excellent read and should make a darn fine movie.

Bag of Bones is the story of Mike Noonan, a writer living in Derry, Maine, a place King fans will instantly recognize. Noonan is suffering from writer’s block after the death of his wife and moves to their lake house for inspiration. Instead he finds a single mom with some serious problems and a ghost that isn’t terribly friendly. This being a King story there is of course a kid involved and an enemy in the form of a rich and powerful man in town. And speaking of The Dark Tower, Bones shares a link with that world as well. I’ll leave it up to you to sort that one out.

Bag of Bones will air this fall on A&E.

Twilight Fans Are Served Breakfast

Twi-hards received a very nice surprise this morning at Comic Con in San Diego. Several of the Twilight cast members showed up early to bring breakfast to their adoring fans that had been waiting all night to get into today’s Breaking Dawn panel. Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser were amongst the crowd handing out blueberry muffins and posing in pics with fans.

Too bad R. Pats or those rock solid abs of Taylor Lautner weren’t a part of the breakfast crew. Muffins would have been flying all over the place.

The cast had a super busy morning including a Breaking Dawn press conference and official panel.

Paranormal Activity 3 takes us back to the beginning

The one bright spot in the horror landscape for me over the past few years has been the Paranormal Activity franchise. Love it or hate it, these creepy “found footage” romps are packing theaters and have changed the genre for the better. Now the teaser for the 3rd chapter in the tale of Katie and her pesky demon has hit the web.

The timestamp on that video is 1988 so it appears Catfish masterminds Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are taking us back in time to tell the origin story. Setting the film in a time when constant video surveillance was not as common will present some interesting challenges but I have no doubt the movie will deliver the chills. Paranormal Activity 3 premieres this October.

‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ NYC Premiere

The highly anticipated comedy flick, Crazy, Stupid, Love made its NYC premiere last night at the Ziegfield Theater. The A-list cast including handsome fellas Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling along side the very beautiful Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and Marisa Tomei all in attendance. Steve was accompanied by his wife, Nancy, while Julianne brought her son.

Many are now wondering if the undeniable chemistry onscreen between Emma and Ryan has transcended into real life love. The duo appeared very cutesy with each other on the red carpet, Emma even commenting to E! News on Ryan’s “dapper” appearance.

Well if these onscreen lovers are really dating, I’ll be first to high five to this couple!
