Jennifer Lopez shocked fans when she announced the end of her marriage to singer Marc Anthony in mid July, and now she is breaking her silence and giving us a little more information as to what caused it. La Lopez is featured as the cover story for Vanity Fair Magazines August issue where she also discusses her optimism about love and her future with her 3 year old twins Max and Emme.
“That was my biggest dream, and I really worked hard at it. We both did,” Jennifer Lopez tells Vanity Fair in their latest issue. “Sometimes it doesn’t work—and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love,” Lopez says. “It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive—determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.”
There have been TONS of rumors emerging from this split and they range from Marc’s philandering ways leading him to the bed of an airline hostess to many other things we rather not address. Only these two know what really went down and what matters is that J Lo is emerging stronger and more determined to raise her kids and move on with life.
“It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself—if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now.”
If its one thing she can definitely be grateful for is the fact that in the industry, she holds just as much power as Marc (if not more!). So she really is not afraid to open up this way about what happened. If we remember Marc’s split with former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, she wasn’t allowed to discuss ANYTHING that went down between them or risk losing a lot in the process!
Both seem to be all the better for splitting with Marc who is rumored to be jealous and controlling. Just as Jennifer says she “will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” that is all he will really get from me as well.
So let’s not feel bad for Lopez because she has proven time and time again that she can pick herself up and move on with life. And with all this talk about “I’m a hopeless romantic and passionate person when it comes to love,” you can bet this won’t be her last marriage or at least serious relationship.
In the meantime, she can continue to kick butt in the industry. New chatter across the interwebs state that Jenny from the Block has secured a $20 million dollar payday for another year of judging on American Idol!
