Who is ready for more ‘Bridget Jones’ ?

Renee Zellweger and her famous British accent will be back in action on the big screen once again in the third installment as the beloved and corky, Bridget Jones.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Working Title Films, the production company responsible for the first two films, is moving forward with a third that has been in talks since 2009.

While no other details were leaked, Colin Firth aka Mark Darcy, spoke with EW while on the King’s Speech press tour last year, slipping some possible story lines that could involve pregnancy issues between Bridget and Darcy, sending her back in the direction of Hugh Grant’s jerky Daniel Cleaver. Let’s all pray that Ms. Jones doesn’t let dirty Clever fool her once again!

Despite rumors of a third book being non existent, the London Evening Standard reported earlier this year that author Helen Fielding had begun writing the third of the best-selling novels, mentioning that there had been discussions about the film, and according to E! Online’s Marc Malkin, Fielding said she’s also working on a script when they spoke back in May.

While many sequels and even prequels are frowned upon from the get-go, I am quite excited to hear this news. The first film brought in $281 million in international sales and the second installment even raked in $262 million worldwide, despite disapproving reviews by critics.

Jones’ character is secretly inside every woman and who wouldn’t want to see her clumsy journey through love and life once more? Bring on the granny panties and ice cream!

Stephen King’s “11/22/63″ & “The Stand” head to the big screen

Lots of big news for Stephen King fans lately, and this time it’s actually good! Silence of the Lambs director Johnathan Demme has signed on to write and direct the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s forthcoming novel about the JFK assassination 11/22/63. The book doesn’t come out until November (of course) but apparently Demme liked the synopsis so much he snapped up the rights.

11/22/63 is the story of Jake Epping, a high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine who stumbles upon a time portal to 1958 in his friend Al’s diner. Al wants to use the portal to prevent the assassination of Kenneday 5 years later. Jake agrees to help and mayhem ensues. I like King AND Kennedy so this should be a real treat. Maybe Marilyn will make an appearance. I’d love to see what King does with her. Also, considering this takes place partially in 1958 maybe we’ll get a glimpse of a young Roland D. LeBay and his shiny new Plymouth Fury, Christine.

Also hitting the intarwebs this week was the news that Harry Potter wonder-twins David Yates and Steve Kloves are tackling King’s opus The Stand for Warner Brothers. The Stand was about 10,000 pages long and will probably spread out into 2 movies if they are smart about it. I’m a big fan of splitting up large novels for the screen since the other option is to dump loads of backstory/side plots and what not.

Maybe all this interest in King’s work will get The Dark Tower rolling again.

Alexander Skarsgard keeps it casual on set

Looking cool and comfortable in a light blue shirt and grey jeans, Alexander Skarsgard arrived on location of his latest film What Maisie Knew on Thursday, August 11th, 2011 in New York City, New York.

On the heels of HBO’s announcement of a 5th season pick up, fans lined up to catch a glimpse of the sexy Swede who plays the role of Eric Northman on the supernatural hit. Alex even stopped to sign a few autographs before getting to work.

What Maisie Knew is a drama that follows a young girl is caught in the middle of her parents’ bitter divorce in New York City. Maisie’s parents are played by Julianne Moore and Steve Coogan while our sexy Skarsgard will play Moore’s new husband.

Lynette’s Sister Returns on Desperate Housewives

ABC has hinted that they are pulling out all the stops on the final season of Desperate Housewives. Creator Marc Cherry went a step further and said he hopes to pay tribute to everyone who’s been on the show, and that includes bringing most of them back. The latest character to get on the bus back to Fairview is Lynette’s sister Lydia played by Sarah Paulson.

The last time we saw Lydia she was back in 2007 when she declined to take their crazy mother off Lynette’s hands. Living with Stella Wingfield had put poor Lydia in therapy and she was in no hurry to repeat it. Now, with Lynette (Felicity Huffman) separated from Tom (Doug Savant) her sister is returning to offer moral support. Should be a nice change of pace for Lynette.

Executive Producer Bob Daily says Housewives isn’t done dusting off old characters for their final lap on the lane. Season 8 will also see the return of the many random children who have come and gone mysteriously over the years such as Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen), Andrew Van De Kamp (Shawn Pyfrom) and his bitchy sister Danielle (Joy Lauren). Tom’s illegitimate daughter Kayla might even show up, five years older and no less evil no doubt. I’d expect to see angry and bitter Zach Young (Cody Kasch) show up again as well given that he is Mike’s son and even possibly Dana Delany whose character Kathryn Mayfair ran off to Paris with her lesbian stripper roommate back in season six.  She has that medical examiner show going though so I guess she might be busy.

Season 8 will see at least one new face, Charles Mesure as Ben Faulkner, a ruthless contractor with eyes for Renee (Vanessa Williams).

Housewives returns on September 25th and promises to be quite a ride.

Alexia Echeverria and Amelia Vega launch new fragrance in Miami

The stars were definitely out in South Beach last night! Real Housewives of Miami star Alexia Echeverria and former Miss Universe Amelia Vega stepped out for the Empress perfume launch held at Lucky Strike Lanes on Wednesday, August 11th, 2011 in Miami Beach, Florida.

And even though fragrance ambassador Kelly Rowland was not able to attend, Sean ‘Diddy” Combs made sure to keep the Ciroc flowing for guests in attendance which also included producer and recording artist Vein.

Empress is the latest fragrance launched by Diddy under his Sean John fragrance collection. The sweet scent is strong but not overpowering, which is representative of the woman who would love it.

Mingling around this event was quite the experience! Buzz around the room was that Bravo has renewed the Real Housewives of Miami for season two. So if what my ears heard is true, get ready for a lot more of the drama that we expect from a group of South Florida women!

I did get to enjoy a quick chat the ultra sweet Amelia who is very excited about her album ‘Agua Dulce’ which set to release digitally on August 30th. The busy bee will take her show on the road this October where she will open for her famous (and Grammy Award Winning!) uncle Juan Luis Guerra as part of his Latin American Tour.

You can grab a bottle of Empress at your nearest Macy’s.

HBO renews ‘True Blood’, USA picks up another season of ‘Suits’

After what can be called the best season of True Blood ever, HBO is announcing they are picking up the fangtastic program for another season. President of Programming Michael Lombardo announced a 12-episode fifth season with debut in the summer of 2012.

“I am thrilled that True Blood continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics,” said Lombardo. “Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV.”

The shows creator Alan Ball also released a statement:

“I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers,” says Ball. “I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”

You know this means more Sookie (Anna Paquin), Bill (Stephen Moyer), Sam (Sam Trammell) and I hope A LOT more of Eric (Alexander Skarsgard)!!!

USA Network also announced today that they would be renewing freshman series Suits up for another season. The show delves into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a top Manhattan corporate law firm where hotshot associate Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) makes a risky move by hiring Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout, as his new associate.

We had the pleasure to visit the Toronto set earlier this year and it’s amazing what they are doing with this show! The series has made USA the most watched network Thursdays in the 10pm hour in all of television!!

“SUITS exceeded our expectations on every level with its sharp writing, engaging ensemble cast and incredible production values,” said Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel, co-presidents, USA Network.

“Quickly embraced by our viewers, critics and the industry as a series that pushes the envelope of the USA brand, we needed no further evidence to greenlight a second season.”

The season finale of Suits will air Thursday, September 8th at 10/9c.
