‘The Playboy Club’ set to stir up some sexy drama on NBC

One of the hottest—not to mention scandalous—shows to be debuting on NBC new fall’s lineup is by far, The Playboy Club. From Executive Producer Brian Grazer, this drama is centered around the glitz and glamour of the Playboy Club in early 1960s Chicago. During a time of strict social behavior, the club went against the norm and became a fantasy world for many. Bunnies were the goddesses of the time.

Of course in this Playboy Club, everything comes at a price, both good and bad. Secrets and deception for starters.

Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian, Third Watch) is the number one playboy and one of the city’s top attorneys, holding a lot of power in the windy city. The club, which also has close ties to the mob, is rocked when Maureen (Amber Heard, Pineapple Express) the new and beautiful and naïve Bunny at the club accidentally kills one of the top guys of the Bianchi crime family.

Dalton helps to aid Maureen, which causes conflict with Nick’s girlfriend, Carol-Lynne (Laura Benanti, Take the Lead), a shining star at the Playboy Club who wants to make it higher up. Other bunnies include the carefree and bubbly Janie (Jenna Detwan Tatum, Step Up), Brenda (Naturi Naughton, Fame), a stunning beauty with an attitude not to messed with along with Alice (Leah Renee, True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet) who seems to take care of everyone but herself and hiding a big secret from her fellow workers.

Pearl (Jenifer Lewis, Strong Medicine) is the club’s seamstress who’s been there since day one and knows all the ropes to surviving. Behind all the magic is general manager Billy Morton (David Krumholtz, Superbad) who holds a close relationship with Nick.

Whoa! There is a lot of heat going on up in this club!

Other than the seductive plot, I am loving the style—both men and women. 1960s fashion is a favorite of mine, and probably the reason for my obsession with Mad Men. Bring on the curls, red lipstick, bunny ears and tails! These vintage Bunnies never looked so good.

This show is so captivating to me already because it reflects history. The real life story about this club not only broke moral codes at the time, but also created a whole new sub-culture and ushered in an era of sexiness.

And of course, some drama only makes things hotter!

Check out Kenny Burns, ambassador for the show, talk about the history of the club and Bunnies’ style along with their place in time in the video below.

Make sure to check out The Playboy Club when it debuts on Monday, September 19.
