‘Charlie’s Angels’: Can these fresh faces take on the title?

Queue the 70s music, big hair and quick one-liners. Add three hot ladies kickin’ some butt (make that major butt), and you’ve got full fledge women power! The classic TV hit, Charlie’s Angels returns to primetime heating things up this time around in Miami! From Executive Producer Drew Barrymore, Abby (Rachael Taylor), Kate (Annie Ilonzeh) and Eve (Minka Kelly) are given a second chance to turn their lives around and take on the coveted role of an Angel, working for the mystery boss himself, Charlie.

This is so exciting not only for South Florida, but a once beloved show turned movie is now being revitalized in some many ways! A new brand of sexy and sophistication is being added to this fresh batch of Angels that can only be described by their tagline:  “They’re Not Saints”.

Bosley (Ramon Rodriquez) is even a young stud this time around!

In honor of the new Angels, CoverGirl will be hitting streets of NYC tomorrow for a chance to “Make me like an Angel” and become camera ready with a makeover. Participants even have the chance to have their photo up on the Times Square super sign!

Are you feeling the love for these new crime fighters?

Check out the premiere this Thursday, September 22 at 8 pm on ABC!

‘Glee’ goes purple for the big premiere

Glee roared back onto Tuesday nights with a bunch of changes and a lot of new faces. Team McKinley wasted no time in dealing out the whos and whats and got us all up to speed within the first few minutes. Lauren (Ashley Fink) is gone, from Glee Club at least and possibly from our consciousness and that is just a crying shame. Also gone is Trouty Mouth Sam (Chord Overstreet) who we found out for sure dated Mercedes for a hot minute back in June and has since moved away. Mercedes (Amber Riley) has since moved on to a big hunk of chocolate lovin who wants to make cocoa babies with her. About time Mercedes got some. Wait, I keep forgetting these are high school kids. Anyway, Quinn (Dianna Agron) also seems to be M.I.A as the gleeks convene in the choir room for some melodic geekgasms with Mr. Schue.

Schue (Matthew Morrison) has his work cut out for him this year now that Sue (Jane Lynch) is running for local congress and is hell-bent on ending federal funding for the arts in public schools. Schue and his lady Emma (Jayma Mays) go on the offensive with a glitter-bomb during Cheerio tryouts that unfortunately backfires. Schue and his songbirds are also facing a humiliating Nationals loss and the inevitable backlash from the student body. He hoped to get thing going again with his weird and misguided Purple Piano Project but all he managed to do was get one set on fire and another destroyed by Hurricane Sue. So far the year is not off to a good start.

The winner of The Glee Project made an appearance when Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michele) went to a NYADA (New York Academy of Dramatic Arts) mixer to kick off their Broadway dreams. McKinley’s two stars got served a piping hot ladle of truth when the other hopefuls basically danced and sang circles around them and they were left crying in Rachel’s Chevy Volt while garden-hose rain poured down.

There were some fun moments, my fave being the delusional Glee club hopeful Sugar whose audition was the stuff nightmares are made of and her Aspergers the stuff of comedy gold. I hope we see more of her shouting inappropriate things at people in the future. The big shock of the night came from Quinn who finally showed up looking like an extra from The Legend of Billy Jean with pink hair and a band of new friends who call themselves The Skanks. I don’t really know where this complete change of character came from but her wistful looks at her old castmates doing jazz hands means it probably won’t last long. I kind of like the pink hair though.

More big news came when Blaine (Darren Criss) transfered to McKinley to spend more time with his boyfriend Kurt. This spells trouble for Finn’s spot as the male lead but I think it will be a nice breath of fabulous air for them. I especially liked Blaine’s sassy red pants but I think I’ll miss the cute Warblers blazer and their tight choreography. Oh, and let’s not forget that Santana (Naya Rivera) was banned from Glee Club for being a traitor! That won’t be good for anyone cause you know she’s a spiteful little thing.

The music didn’t dominate this episode which was nice. I’m guessing since they had a lot of exposition to get through there wasn’t a lot of room for warbling. But the songs they did sing were pretty good. The lunchroom Go-Gos party with “We Got the Beat” was appropriately peppy but nothing I feel I need to download on Itunes just yet. Kurt and Rachel’s song from Wicked “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead“ was wonderful of course. I really should see that show eventually I suppose. Blaine tore up “It’s So Unusual” but Blaine tears up everything and he can keep right on doing it as far as I’m concerned. I wasn’t nuts about the medley the NYADA kids did but the “You Can’t Stop the Beat” finale was good stuff.

My favorite quote:

Brittany: I have pepperoni in my bra.
Santana: Those are your nipples.

Glee seems to be getting back to it’s fun season one roots this year and I say bring it on. Things got a bit heavy handed last year despite some great episodes. This premiere brought enough shake ups and the promise of our seniors leaving at the end of this year should be enough to keep things interesting. Welcome to another year of Glee folks.

Tune in next week when we find out what the heck “I Am Unicorn” means.

Hilary Duff keeps it casual in stripes

Hilary Duff is proving her dedication to keeping fit throughout her pregnancy! Photographers spotted the mommy-to-be as she fed the meter outside a Pilates Studio in Toluca Lake, California on Tuesday, September 20th, 2011.

Duff looked comfy in a black and white top and loose fitting exercise pants that highlighted her changing body. I can’t wait to see her bump start to show!

While exercise has been a top priority for the former Lizzie Maguire star, don’t think she is skimping out on delicious food. She was joined by good friend Alanna Masterson and new boyfriend Jesse Marco for dinner at Bottega Louie last night.

I had pizza from there once during a trip to LA and it was absolutely delish!

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham: Balcony Practice for ‘Parker’

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham stay in character during rehearsals for their new movie Parker in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday, September 20th, 2011. They were spotted by photographers on a hotel balcony where they rehearsed lines for an upcoming scene while director Taylor Hackford looked on.

The duo were shot in Palm Beach yesterday during a jewelry heist scene in Palm Beach’s famous Worth Avenue in a convertible Bently and a white SUV.

It is rumored that production will continue all over South Florida for two weeks time. We have yet to see co-stars Nick Nolte, Clifton Collins Jr, or Michael Chiklis but we have some time yet for them to make an appearance!

Plus the weather down here has been absolutely delicious!

Katy Perry is full of unicorns and Care Bears

Showing off an interesting shade of pink hair, Katy Perry covers the October issue of InStyle Magazine. Perry is dressed in an Emanuel Ungaro dress and Louis Vuitton belt on the cover while wearing a stunning Miu Miu dress inside the mag.

Perry opened up about a few important topics during the interview including the possibility of having children with husband Russell Brand.

“Not yet. I think if you’re married, it’s often in your future.”

My favorite quote is on her secret to having it all!

“I’m not going to sit and be steamrolled; I’m going to stand up against things that are unjust. I am full of unicorns and Care Bears 99 percent of the time, but don’t open Pandora’s Box of that other 1 percent – because it’s there!”

To read the entire interview, pick up the new October issue of InStyle on newsstands Friday.

Anna Faris and Chris Evans premiere ‘What’s Your Number’ in California

The red carpet was on fire during the premiere of What’s Your Number held at the Regency Village Theatre on Monday, September 19th, 2011 in Westwood, California. Lead actors Anna Faris and Chris Evans brought their A-game alongside co-stars Zachary Quinto, Blythe Danner, Dave Annable, Ed Begley Jr., Tika Sumpter, and Heather Burns.

The comedy follows Ally Darling (Faris), a woman who embarks on a quest to find the best “ex” of her life, by any means necessary after reading a magazine article warning that people who have had 20 or more relationships have missed their chance at true love.

What’s Your Number? opens in theaters on September 30th.

The Playboy Club swings into prime time

“Women will be the death of you.”

Chicago lawyer Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian) receives this warning multiple times during the first hour of NBC’s The Playboy Club. But like most men he doesn’t listen and barely ten minutes later he’s tangled up in the death of a mob boss just because he wanted a cigarette and some face time with the hot new bunny on the block. This just isn’t any old mob boss though, it’s HIS old boss. But good ole Nick has gone straight now and is running for office and is anxious to forget his mob past. Oh what a tangled web we weave.

The Playboy Club officially marks the start of the fall television season for me, the first season in a long time that I’ve really been excited about. Heck, the fact that Concerned Republican Mothers of America were trying to get this show off the air sight unseen was enough to peak my interest. Not that I needed any more reasons mind you. The sixties? Gorgeous women in bunny costumes? Eddie Cibrian squinting and shirtless? Yes please. I’ll have more of that thank you.

Hef himself narrates this episode and welcomes us to his world where “if you don’t swing, don’t bring.” At the center of this rabbit hole of lust and debauchery is Bunny Maureen (Amber Heard) who is just off the turnip truck from Ft. Wayne and within her first week wearing the ears has managed to kill a mob boss with her stiletto and piss off the oldest and meanest Bunny on the block, Nick’s girlfriend Carol-Lynne (Laura Benanti). Nick helps her cover up the crime and loses his girl in the process, but he doesn’t seem to mind too much.

Bunny Maureen has friends at the mansion in the form of Bunny Brenda (Naturi Naughton), Bunny Janie (Jenna Dewan) and Bunny Alice (Leah Renee). Each has a backstory that we’ll no doubt learn more about later. We got some sneak peeks during this first hour though and I’ll admit that Bunny Alice’s gay husband Sean (Sean Maher) has me intrigued.

Rounding out this cast is David Krumholtz (Numbers) as Billy Rosen, the manager of the club and Jenifer Lewis (What’s Love Got to Do With It) as Pearl the club’s seamstress and wise old sassy black woman. A lot of subplot was thrown our way this first hour, enough to get me interested I’ll admit. But none of it was especially original. I did enjoy Ike and Tina performing “Shake a Tailfeather” at the club. I expect a nod to the 60s artist of the moment will be a recurring theme on this show.

The premiere didn’t blow me away but I think it has potential. The mere existence of Eddie Cibrian in the cast has me worried about the future due to his track record with shows being cancelled out from under him. At this point I can’t say this one will last out the season, but we’ll see. I’ll admit that keeping track of all the bunnies was a bit taxing at first. I had to take notes. I hope they stick to wearing the same color costumes each week so I can keep them straight. I also plan to start referring to all the girls I know as Bunny. I’m sure I’ll be very popular at work and my sisters will love it.

The Playboy Club airs on Monday nights at 10pm on NBC much to the chagrin of Concerned Republican Mothers of America. So do your part and watch!
