Salma Hayek and Rachel Zoe support Stella McCartney during Paris Fashion Week

With Paris Fashion Week in full swing, you never know which celebrities will end up front row at the various shows. But when you drop a name like Stella McCartney, you can expect some of the hottest names to be in attendance!

Salma Hayek was spotted front row alongside husband Francois-Henri Pinault at Stella McCartney’s Ready to Wear Spring / Summer 2012 show on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 as were Rachel Zoe and hubby Rodger Berman. The pair that received the most attention were Paul McCartney and his soon-to-be bride Nancy Shevell who were so excited they high-fived each other during the show and even hopped to their feet to cheer!

Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, fashion photographer Mario Testino, and former model Twiggy were also spotted admiring the sexy collection.

After the show, Stella was photographed departing with husband Alasdhair Willis and their two children Bailey and Miller.

REVIEW: Desperate Housewives “Making the Connection”

The theme this week on Desperate Housewives was guilt and making connections and just about everyone on Wisteria Lane is neck deep in it, and as the wise Mary Alice tells us that guilt could destroy them. Is it wrong that sometimes I hear Mary Alice narrating my own life? Is that strange? Please tell me I’m not the only one. Oh, what are we going to do on Sunday nights without the ladies of Wisteria Lane and their delicious fresh baked Drama Pies?

Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) is letting the guilt affect his nether regions much to his wife’s chagrin. Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is dealing with it by being generally crabby and manipulative so not much new there. And Susan (Teri Hatcher), Lord grant me patience with Susan, is coping by rushing around town trying to get into as much trouble as she can so she will feel adequately punished for the crime she dare not speak of. At least she has her clothes on. Gabby (Eva Longoria) and Bree (Marcia Cross) seem to the be the only ones who aren’t letting the guilt get to them, but Bree is teetering on the edge of crazy now that the creepy note has appeared in her mailbox. More about the note later.

I know we are only on episode two but the end already seems too close for comfort which makes Susan’s recent batch of foolishness even harder to bear. Maybe I just need to accept that she is who she is and she may never rise above it, but I can’t help but want something great for her character before the show takes its final bow next spring. The only good thing about her ill-advised misdemeanor crime spree is that she found common ground with Carlos and their friendship evolved to a deeper level, one level above where they inevitably fall into the sack together. A Carlos/Susan pairing is not one I ever even contemplated in all these past seven years so I’m actually a bit excited about the possibilities.

Gabby meanwhile is focused on the lack of sex in her life and hires a stripper to teach her some moves. When that ends badly (come on you knew it would) she pays the girl to give her husband a lap dance in hopes it would reawaken the beast below. Instead it pisses Carlos off. Gabby is definitely consistent, I will give her that. Maybe she should drag out her dolls again.

As if poor Mike (James Denton) wasn’t already reduced to window dressing I’m sure this new friendship with Carlos won’t help any. Maybe the job opportunity that the hot Aussie neighbor Ben offered him will help. Does anyone else get a creepy vibe from Ben Faulkner? Sure he looks great in jeans and his accent could melt butter but something just isn’t right about that guy. We got a peek into his past during a convo with Renee (Vanessa Williams) but as Truvy Jones once said; “I think there’s a story there.”

Down at the Scavo’s place their marriage continues to disintegrate as they play good parent/bad parent. No new ground was covered here because Lynette and Tom (Doug Savant) have been at this for seven years. I have no doubt they’ll find their way back to each other before the sun sets on this little slice of suburbia but for now I’m ready to move on from their fighting. I’m also ready to move on from Renee’s criminally vapid plotline. Team Wisteria has been wasting Vanessa Williams since she arrived on the street. I had hoped they’d do more with her than simply fill Edie’s shoes as the neighborhood vamp. We get hints of a deeper story there but they never explore it. At this point is it even worth it? I love you ‘Nessa but you deserve better. Let’s hope they do right by you this season.

This week did see the return, ever so briefly, of Creepy Paul Young (Mark Moses) who is rotting in the Fairview jail for a myriad of crimes against good taste. Bree high tails it over there to confront him about the very Mary Alice-esque note she found in her mailbox and rightly assumed that Paul was the one who sent it. No one else alive knew about that note right besides the girls and Paul right? WRONG! Paul tells her that he told the police about it…more specifically a certain hunky detective that is presently assaulting Bree with his baton on a nightly basis. Bree was about to break up with Detective Chuck Vance until this little nugget of info was uncovered and now she’s holding on tight. What’s that saying about keeping your enemies closer? It remains to be seen if Chuck is behind the mysterious note. I lean towards him not being the one but you never know. He seems awfully obtuse for a detective. I think there’s a story there.

Desperate Housewives returns next Sunday at 9pm on ABC.

Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly premiere Real Steel in LA

She may have welcomed a baby boy 5 months ago, but Evangeline Lilly looks to have gotten her super fit bod back! The Canadian native was photographed in a stunning floor-length gown that had two sexy features; a plunging neckline that nearly exposed her bell button and a split that went clear up her thigh at the Real Steel World Premiere held at The Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California on October 2nd, 2011.

She finished the look with a black belt cinching her waist and pair of black pumps. Just gorgeous!

Joining her on the red carpet was her hunky co-star Hugh Jackman and the youngest star of the film, Dakota Goyo.  He might be only 12-years-old but Goyo is not a newcomer to the big screen.  He recently played a younger version of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for the Marvel superhero film along with countless other projects since 2007.

Real Steal takes place in the future where robots have replaced humans in boxing. Now that former boxer Charlie Kenton (Jackman) has no chance at becoming a champion, he becomes a small-time promoter. A twist of fate brings his son Max (Goyo) into his life who helps teach Charlie a thing or two about relationships and robots.

Can the duo combine forces and finally bring home a title?

Watch this fabulous family drama when it hits theaters on October 7th.

Jason Wu teams up with Target for new collection

On the heels of a super successful collaboration with Italian fashion house Missoni, Target announced they are teaming up with Taiwanese American designer Jason Wu! Details are slowly starting to trickle in with Wu confirming via video (see below) that the collection will include women’s wear and handbags set to be released on February 5th, 2012.

Here is a statement released by Wu via Women’s Wear Daily.

“The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable women’s wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before.”

First Lady Michelle Obama put a huge spotlight on Wu after she wore a custom-designed one-shoulder, floor-length white chiffon gown from his collection to the inaugural ball the night of President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

I just hope Target prepares for the Jason Wu launch a lot better than they did with Missoni for Target. I was so peeved at how many of us real fans were screwed over by people who grabbed pieces just to throw it on Ebay. Also the server crash heard round the nation (gosh I’m so dramatic!) just can’t happen again!

I spoke to quite a few Target sales people and they all say that the red retailer just wasn’t expecting this type of response. So I hope things continue to improve in the future.

Plus I’m not sure if I’m some kind of masochist but I had a bit of fun visiting different Target locations in the Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach areas looking for the zig zag print! It was almost like a scavenger hunt to find pieces from Missoni for Target that I wanted.

All in all I think I scored must of the items I wanted and even some I didn’t know I wanted! Check out all my goodies:

Did you guys score big with Missoni for Target? Are you excited for the Jason Wu collection?

REVIEW: Fringe “One Night in October”

Just when I thought Fringe couldn’t get any better they pull out an episode like “One Night in October”. This was a perfect hour of television.

The crime this week takes place “over there” and involves a man extracting happy memories from his victims using a machine right out of The Matrix. Now that the two universes are working together a unique opportunity has presented itself. Fauxlivia (Anna Torv) suggests that they interview the killer’s alternate on our side for some insight into his mind. Brilliant! Our Olivia is skeptical of course and her fears are realized when the man finds something that links him to the suspect in a very personal way and bolts.

The revelation that one seemingly small change in someone’s path can result in such drastic differences in their lives. On our side the fact that John ran instead of enduring the beatings his father rained down on his alternate meant that he met a kind soul who taught him how to battle the darkness in his mind. Therefore he became a teacher instead of a killer. The lesson here being we are the product of our choices. Wise words indeed.

The real story this week is the interaction between Olivia and Fauxlivia. Each is learning a bit about the other during this period of cooperation and the subtlety of Anna Torv’s performance is just amazing. When Olivia admits to her counterpart that she killed her abusive stepfather you can see the wheels in Fauxlivia’s brain turning. How closely does that mirror her own childhood? Will we ever know? I must applaud the production team here because the scenes with the two Olivias are seamless. I completely believe that there are two Anna Torvs occupying the same space. This is a far cry from the ridiculous looking compositing being done on that new Sarah Michelle Gellar evil-twin series Ringer. I can’t wait till we get to see the two Lincoln’s meet. Imagine a Seth Gabel sandwich if you will.

Also worth noting is that the alternate Broyles (Lance Reddick) is alive. Remember when he died helping our Olivia escape the other side last season? This means we are on yet another timeline from the two we’ve been following since the second season. What else is different in this one? I’m going to have to bring out the whiteboard to plot all this out I think.

This episode also saw the return of Commando Astrid (Jasika Nicole) who is so smart she shudders ever so slightly when rattling off complex calculations like her head is about to explode with random knowledge. Our Astrid is much less high strung which I’m sure helps her tolerate Walter (John Noble) and his increasingly eratic behavior. But who can blame him? He hasn’t slept in weeks because Peter (Joshua Jackson), wherever he is, is keeping him awake shouting HELP ME WALTER, I’M RIGHT HERE! Peter is obviously getting stronger and I imagine it is just a matter of time before he makes his presence known to someone other than Walter.

Fringe returns next Friday at 9pm on Fox.
