Sons of Anarchy: Will Clay pay for his dirty deeds?

Ooh what a dirty web you’ve weaved throughout the years Clay Morrow (played by Ron Perlman)! First you take down Jax’s (Charlie Hunnam) father, John teller, all those years ago (while you were bangin his ol’ lady Gemma [Katey Sagal] at the same time!) and now your trying to get your soon-to-be daughter-in-law killed?! We have come to understand just how far you will go to make sure you always remain on top, and your dirty past WILL rear its ugly head in the end and cost you your life!

I can picture it now: Jax getting his vengeance against the man who not only murdered his father and tried to end the life of the mother of his children but also the man who pretended to love him AS a father, in the most epic season finale in Sons of Anarchy history!

Yes I’m using a lot of exclamation points because I am damn excited about the chaos taking place in Charming. I’m not sure yet whether Clay set up this whole Tara beef thing with Romeo (guest star Danny Trejo) as a way to divert the attention to someone else so THEY would pay for her death (or attempt thereof), or because he genuinely wants him to murder her?!

Could he be that cold and heartless? Absolutely. He has a huge secret and he knows she can expose him and end his career and possibly his life. If his boys found out what he did, I know quite a few would have him staring into the end of a loaded weapon in no seconds flat.

Piney (William Lucking) is getting close to uncovering the truth and finally unmasking Clay to SAMCRO as the villain he truly is, but will he die in the process as well? Poor Opie (Ryan Hurst) is the real loser here because he’s already suffered the loss of his wife Donna thanks to Clay and Tig (Kim Coates), so I can’t imagine he would be too happy with el Presidente if he ended his fathers life as well.

Former Police Chief Unser (Dayton Callie) is also hot on his trail and even though we saw him put that note on Tara’s (Maggie Siff) car, I think he is trying to warn her not harm her.

In this new trailer for next weeks exciting new episode, we find out that Unser’s note has been found and everyone suspects the Cartel. Jax, in his stupidity, thinks the club and its members are under the protection of Clay but Tara is quick to point out that he cannot be trusted.

Will this lead her to reveal the letters that could potentially change the entire dynamic of the club? Tune into the next episode of Sons of Anarchy, Tuesday nights on FX to find out!

PS. Juice (Theo Rossi) is getting himself into some DEEP doo doo. I hope he is planning a police double-cross because Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) is on to him and nothing nice will come of his deceptions.

Haven’t we buried enough SAMCRO members? RIP Miles.

Gerard Butler catches the surf topless

Surfs up guys and gals! Actor Gerard Butler showed off his smokin’ hot bod on the beach where he is shooting scenes for the surfer biopic Of Men and Mavericks in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011. All that exercise and healthy eating sure has transformed this already hot Scott into a lean, mean, wave tacklin’ machine!

The drama tells the story of surfer Jay Moriarty and his longtime friend/mentor Rick ‘Frosty’ Hesson, played by Jonny Weston and Gerard Butler respectively.

To prepare for the role, the Machine Gun Preacher and 300 hunk has been spotted hitting the beaches of Malibu recently. Keep up the good work!

REVIEW: Desperate Housewives “Watch While I Revise the World”

After a strong kickoff to the season the creative team at Desperate Housewives took a week off and instead we got an old discarded script from season 4 with some names changed. Where do the writers get the titles for these episodes anyway? Revise the world? Really? Revision would indicate that our beloved housewives have grown and are not making the same idiotic mistakes they’ve always made. Revision would mean that Susan would have been upfront with Mike about needing to support Carlos through some unnamed crisis instead of sneaking out for moonlit walks and initimate chats in the park. Revision would mean that Lynette would not be acting like a Real Housewife of Fairview and sabotaging her sister’s first stable relationship. A more appropriate title would have been “Watch While The Same Shit Happens Again This Week”.

In all fairness there were some vital pieces of the plot that needed a nudge forward this week. A gentle nudge would have sufficed. Instead they drop kicked the story into foul territory. Bree and Gabby ran around in public acting like crazy people so Bree could dump her cop boyfriend and now Bree has a psycho ex-boyfriend to deal with. I’m getting ahead of myself, so let me backtrack a bit.

Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) are still not dealing with their guilt very well and have taken to moonlight rendesvous that are not at all ill advised given how suspicious Mike (James Denton) already is of his wife’s odd behavior. Their chat in the park was touching and I am glad that they have finally connected over something after eight years of living down the street from each other but the sudden attraction and sneaking around was just silly. After Carlos gets punched by a very angry plumber he and Susan decide to come clean about the dead body in the woods and Mike is none too pleased. I doubt his issue has anything to do with the actual murder and more to do with Susan hiding it from him. Weren’t they cooing and moaning to each other post-coitous about not having secrets not long ago?

Next door Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is preparing for a visit from her train wreck of a sister Lydia (Sarah Paulson) whom she expects will arrive on a wave of hysteria and sorrow over some lost love. Instead she’s dressed like an extra from an Edie Brickell video and is happily in love with a hippie named Rashi (Christopher Gartin). Deliriously happy to be exact, and Lynette spits fire and poison with jealousy almost immediately. Lynette picks and pokes at Lydia until her old insecure jealous self explodes out and ruins her relationship with the hippie who then uninvites her from their retreat at a yurt. Only then does Lynette realize she’s being a bitch and tracks down the hippie so she can make things right, which she does after loudly singing some Ethel Merman tunes. I’ll give Lynette some slack for…well, being Lynette this time because she is mid-separation from Tom and only now realizing just what a nightmare she can be. I am holding out hope that Miss Scavo will have a glorious epiphany later this year involving rainbows and singing choirs. Fingers crossed. She did get out one good zinger before she calmed down though.

“You can’t marry that sunflower seed.”

Wasting away at the end of the lane we find Renee (Vanessa Williams) getting a massage from a Nordic God. Gay Lee (Kevin Rahm) arrives wrapped in his Cloak of Ridiculousness wanting Renee’s help explaining to his daughter Jenny about those evil boobies she’s growing. Renee agrees and before long she’s buddy buddy with the kid and playing mommy which makes Gay Lee a little jealous. This leads to a meltdown concerning whether or not Jenny should have a woman in her life. The whole thing felt a bit heavy handed to me but I suppose it was inevitable they would take on this issue eventually. Seems like showing Jenny as well-adjusted and not wanting for anything would have been a better solution, and Renee dismissing her desire for a mother figure as the frivolous ramblings of a pre-teen was not cool.

Now back to Bree (Marcia Cross). As the Chairman of the Dead Guy Committee she has done a good job of keeping her wits about her but after finding the Mary-Alice esque note and then discovering Chuck (Jonathan Cake) might be the culprit her common sense has gone out the window. Gabby (Eva Longoria) convinces her to snoop and whattayaknow she finds a creepy picture of her hand and a mysterious envelope hidden in Chuck’s briefcase. Now I immediately made the connection that Chuck was merely using the tools his trade affords him to determine Bree’s ring size so he can propose. But Bree and Gabby do not reach this obvious conclusion. Instead the launch into an elaborate explanation that involves Chuck finding a palm print on a tree at the crime scene and immediately deducing that Bree must be the murderer because murder is so like Bree, right? When she does finally put the pieces together at dinner right before Chuck proposes she dumps him instead and Chuck turns into a crazy person, telling Bree she has made a terrible mistake. Now Bree has done it. She’s worse off than she was before.

It was too much to hope that this final season would be 22 episodes of perfection so I can forgive a rotten episode or two. They had better get this train back on the tracks soon though. Next week Lynette finds out Tom has a girlfriend. I suspect any progress she made this week will go out the window.

Jaleel White announced as host of new Syfy Network show Total Blackout

Get ready to welcome your new favorite competition show, one unlike any other out there! I’m currently at the 2011 Syfy Network Press Tour where they just announced the latest addition to their line-up of unscripted programming, Total Blackout.

Hosted by actor Jaleel White, the a comedic game show in which contestants battle each other and their fears in a series of challenges. However, there is a twist — all the challenges are played in complete darkness. There are no lights, no blindfolds and no-holds barred as the players face their fears and unexpected surprises in a series of nerve-wracking games.

“Total Blackout brings to life, in a wonderfully clever, intense and funny way, what can happen when your imagination runs away with you, said Mark Stern, President of Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions. We’re also very excited to be partnered with a company like FreemantleMedia, who are using their amazing expertise to make this show one that makes you gasp and laugh in the same breath.”

Total Blackout will begin production in Los Angeles on October 18th.

REVIEW: Pan Am “Ich Bin Ein Berliner”

Now that Pan Am is three episodes old we are starting to see a formula emerge. My revelation last week that Pan Am was The Love Boat of the skies is ringing true as we jet off to another exotic locale each week with the promise of intrigue and romance of some kind. This week they teased us a bit and showed us the aftermath of this excursion early on before backing up and getting into the details. Other shows do this from time to time and it is a fairly effective way to get people who are on the fence about it to stick around for the entire hour. For those of us already on this flight though it was unnecessary. I almost resented knowing up front that Colette had some sort of emotionally harrowing experience in Berlin. I would have rather been surprised.

Also a given at this point is Kate (Kelli Garner) and her weekly missions. This one sends her to a book store in Berlin. Things don’t go exactly as planned and she ends up in over her head when the Berlin contact has her cover blown and winds up hiding in Kate’s hotel room. Kate’s handler refuses to help so Kate has to decide whether to abandon her counterpart or help her out. Her decision gets her in some hot water.

Maggie (Christina Ricci) and her obsession with John F. Kennedy drove the plot this week and the other crew members got swept up in her wake. Before the clipper Majestic has left New York she was already flirting with the journalists on board in an attempt to score a good seat for the speech. It seems she worked for Kennedy’s campaign and won a meeting with the candidate for raising the most money, a meeting that never took place. Now she is determined to shake the man’s hand and she finds a sympathetic ear in a young man from the Village Voice who helps get her a press pass. Her scheming manages to get the girls admitted to a party for Kennedy based on his love of stewardesses.

But it was Colette (Karine Vanasse) who really stole the show. The dramatic flash-forward in the opening minutes told us something had happened to her in Berlin we just didn’t know what. We find out that her parents disappeared during Germany’s occupation of France during World War 2 and she’s had a sore spot for Mother Germany ever since. She made a valiant attempt to hide her annoyance with Maggie’s enthusiasm for Kennedy’s speech and hid her emotions while our President voiced America’s support of West Germany after East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. Our first glimpse into her mood comes when she attacks Kate’s mysterious German friend who says her family used to deliver bread to the Embassy which had been the headquarters for German Air Command during the war meaning that her family were Nazis. Colette’s flashbacks to the Nazi occupation were chilling but her performance of the German National Anthem at Kennedy’s party was just heartbreaking. Of all the characters on this show I find myself drawn to Colette the most.

There wasn’t much going on this week for Captain Dean (Mike Vogel) but First Officer Ted (Michael Mosley) saw some action when he made a move on cover girl Laura (Margot Robbie). At first she seemed receptive but quickly froze up. Ted didn’t seem too put off though, but he did reveal when they were disembarking that he thought she was “different than other girls”. Indeed. Ted is kind of cute actually even if he is a bit of a player. I’m in favor of Laura dating him.

Pan Am took a dip in the ratings this week which is a shame. There has been no news indicating that ABC has picked up the series for a full season or not so if this decline continues I fear for the future. I’d really hate to see this show die so if you have been the least bit curious please give Pan Am a shot. Next Sunday our destination is the tropics so tune in Sunday at 10pm on ABC for some bikini action.

Tiffany Hines is fashion forward at the Latina Magazine Anniversary celebration

Tiffany Hines showed off how to properly work a little black dress at the celebration of Latina Magazine’s 15th anniversary! Joining her on the carpet at The Globe Theatre in Universal City, California on October 5, 2011 was fellow actress Francia Raisa.

Tiffany rocked a bedazzled Aidan Mattox mini dress that featured a cute cut-out just below the neckline. Her stylist Karen Raphael finished off her look with a pair of YSL pumps and Dev Raphael ring.

'Stylist to the Stars' Karen Raphael and Tiffany Hines

I can’t conclude this post without mentioning Tiffany’s stunning make-up and dreamy hair-do!  She rocked a sultry blue eye shadow that added a punch of color to her all black ensemble while keeping her hair simple with loose romantic waves pulled to one side.

It was the perfect combination to give this edgy ensemble a bit of a sweet side!

Catch this September birthday girl in the new season of 90210, Tuesday nights on The CW.

REVIEW: Fringe “Alone in the World”

Fringe saw a slight bump in ratings this week with a compelling hour about a lonely young boy and his relationship with a living neural network named Gus.

Poor Walter. It seems no matter which timeline or which universe we are in his relationship (or lack thereof) with his son Peter is a source of anguish. This is even more apparent now that the timeline we are following is the one that should have played out naturally from the beginning with young Peter dying in both universes. But as we all know Walter and The Observers changed all that. Now we have to get out of this mess.

With Peter reduced to the occasional reflection and voice from beyond I must admit that any time spent not looking for him or getting him back seems like time wasted no matter how good the episodes may be. I realize that the characters are just now beginning to understand that someone is missing from their lives but as a viewer it is so frustrating. I also realize that this is episode 3 of 22 and I am an impatient little bitch. I promise I’ll try to calm down.

In our current timeline Walter seems to forever teeter on the edge of insanity. He never leaves the lab and now that Peter is appearing to him using reflections he has smashed or covered every reflective surface. This wacky behavior has prompted a visit from old doctor at St. Claire’s (Bruce Sumner) and a stern talking to by Agent Broyles after Walter loses his grip a little while assisting via webcam at the latest crime scene.

The aforementioned crime involved the death and rapid decomposition of two young boys who had been bullying a classmate name Aaron who led them to a drainage tunnel while being chased. Once in the tunnel the boys were infected with what at first looked to be a fungus while Aaron escaped unharmed. When Walter (John Noble) finally gets to examine Aaron he discovers that due to intense loneliness the boy is linked psychically to the organism which he perceives to be his only friend. Walter and the boy bond which is not unexpected given Walter’s grief over his lost son. When Team Fringe attempts to eradicate the network to avoid further deaths they risk killing the boy too and Walter is faced with another loss. He even mistakenly calls the boy Peter.

Aaron is saved of course but Walter has had enough. Worried about being sent back to St. Claire’s and tired of the visions and voices he attempts a self-lobotomy. Gruesome stuff. Thankfully Olivia (Anna Torv) walks in and saves him, and when Olivia reveals she is having the same visions he realizes he is not going crazy after all. Now they can focus on finding this mysterious man.

I have to wonder if Fauxlivia and Walternate are having similar visions on the other side and I can only hope that we’ll be crossing over there soon to get their take on things, or at least they will cross over here to tell our Olivia all about it. I hate that we aren’t seeing more collaboration between the two teams yet. I suppose there is a big trust thing to get over. It was nice to get confirmation on the fate of the alternate Peter in this timeline. My coworkers and I have been discussing the timelines at great length and it was nice to know we were on the same page. But where has Walternate been this season? Also absent this year is Nina Sharpe (Blair Brown) at Massive Dynamic. How is their role in all of this different in this new timeline? So many questions!
Fringe returns next Friday at 9pm on Fox with “Subject 9″.
