Henry Cavill and Kellan Lutz step out in style for ‘Immortals’ premiere

If any of you still have doubts of the existence of a Supreme Being out there let these pictures serve as proof. There is no way He wasn’t showing off the day he created men like Henry Cavill and Kellan Lutz!

I had the pleasure to interview them both during San Diego Comic Con and suffice it to say that I barely managed to walk out of the press room without slipping and falling in a puddle of my own drool. But only just.

The sexy pair nearly set the red carpet on fire at Relativity Media’s “Immortals” premiere presented in RealD 3 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Monday, November 7th, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Joining them were their equally stunning co-stars Luke Evans, Freida Pinto, and Isabel Lucas.Immortals tells the story of Theseus (Cavill), a mortal chosen by Zeus (Evans) who must lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his evil army with the fate of mankind and the Gods at stake.

Run…don’t walk to see this film when it hits theaters this Friday. Even if just for the beautiful view!

Danny Wood and Elisabetta Canalis launch Vic and Angelo’s in Miami

I used to drive all the way up to Delray Beach because Vic & Angelo’s on East Atlantic Avenue is a “must visit” eatery. Now that they have opened up a location on South Beach, the folks in Delray might start missing me!

To help celebrate the official Grand Opening of Vic & Angelo’s South Beach location, George Clooney’s famous ex Elisabetta Canalis was on-hand for her first ever special guest appearance in the U.S alongside New Kids on the Block hunk Danny Wood on Friday, November 4th, 2011.

Earlier this year I attended a special event through Nissan that first introduced me to the Italian eatery and I have been in love ever since. Their pizza is about as close as you will get to authentic Italian pizza without getting a stamp on your passport.

Vic & Angelo’s South Beach is located at 150 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.

Diane Von Furstenberg inspires Miami women with her words and her fashion

Ever since I started this blog three years ago I have had the pleasure to meet so many different types of people. I often get asked who some of my favorite encounters have been with and I am excited to add fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg to the top of that list.I had the pleasure to interact with her on Friday, November 4th, 2011 as part of the “Proud to be Woman” event held at Saks Fifth Avenue at Bal Harbour Mall. Thanks to Miami Magazine, we were able to experience the world of Diane Von Furstenberg first-hand with the woman who started it all just a few steps away.

Models wore the hottest trends from the DVF Cruise/Pre-Spring 2012 collection that featured the beautiful colors and patterns that are a staple in all her work. Von Furstenberg need not add a huge visible signature to her pieces, a true fan can recognize her trademark on clothing anywhere!

In chatting up the models I encountered one beauty who described the collection perfectly. She said, “They are like pieces of candy!”

My favorite part of the evening was when the former Princess sat down in the center of the room for an intimate chat. She talked to us about her life, her THREE children (Prince Alexander, Princess Tatiana, and her fashion line), and even her current obsession: Her iPad!

She loves the Apple product so much, she created the fabulous Harper Connect Bag ($695) so fellow iPad devotees could carry their favorite gadget around in style! The day bag has a carefully created custom-cut pocket made to ensure you can get to your iPad easily while on-the-go.

By the time the evening was winding down, I felt like Diane and I had become old friends since she would grab my arm warmly when I’d walk past her. We briefly discussed the best way for me to hide my large Hispanic hips and she told me, “Have you tried my wrap dress?”

Ah yes, her iconic wrap dress that was on display on half the bodies in the room! There is a reason why that item is her most famous creation. Each woman who wore it made it her own. Since each woman has a different body type, 3 women could be wearing the exact same pattern and look totally different!

In closing, I would like to leave you with the quote that DVF left us with when she concluded her empowering speech to the women in the room. She said, “You can be the woman that you want to be.”

What better way to kick-off a new week than with that thought.

Christian Bale and Tom Hardy battle it out for Gotham City

It’s the battle of the hotties, winner takes Gotham City! Christian Bale and Tom Hardy were photographed on the set of The Dark Knight Rises in New York City, New York on Saturday, November 5th, 2011. The duo were dressed up in full costumes and made for pretty convincing enemies.

Also spotted on location were actor Matthew Modine and director Christopher Nolan, who also directed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

The images from this set are amazing! You can see all the hoopla taking place around the main characters all while Bale and Hardy play a little game of hardball.

Is anyone else sad this is the last film we will Bale in the Batman suit?

REVIEW: Fringe “Novation”

I think sports should operate like network television and go on hiatus every summer and for the holidays because sometimes we need a break from all this madness and who would really want to watch baseball instead of Fringe? That is not a world I want to live in. One more thing to add to my to-do list for when I achieve world domination. Until then, here is what happened on Fringe this week.

Peter (Joshua Jackson) is back and everyone at Fringe division is giving him the side-eye because they just know he’s up to no good and his uber-confident demeanor is a bit off-putting to the men in the room. So far only Astrid seems immune to his well-groomed charms. There is no question about who he is because his DNA is a 99% match to Walter’s. But when his own father fails to recognize him Peter knows he has to change tactics. This is not the world he left. Thankfully there is a new case to focus on involving a new breed of shapeshifter and Peter happens to know a little about them. With some prodding from Lincoln (Seth Gabel) they agree to let Peter help them out. Just like old times, sort of.

The case involves a kidnapped scientists who used to work for Massive Dynamic developing human cell replication. The project was nixed by William Bell due to some ethical argument but on the other side the project lived on. But there is a problem, and the shapeshifters are here to get the man who started it all to help fix it. Not surprisingly the man agrees, but only because he doesn’t really know what is going on. Things go bad very quickly.

After some fancy keyboard work Peter figures out that these new shapeshifters replicate down to the cellular level which means that they don’t bleed Mercury and unless you open them up you’d never know, opening the door for some shapeshifting moles in the FBI or even Fringe division. I expect this will come up again soon. In the meantime Peter has to figure out how to get everyone to recognize him again.

I mentioned earlier that this timeline is different and without Peter in the picture there are big changes in our main characters. Olivia (Anna Torv) and her sister were raised by Nina Sharp after her mother died and is interested in Lincoln. Walter has long since accepted the death of his son as well so when faced with an adult Peter he sees it as a temptation and a gift he is not worthy of receiving since it was his own selfishness that put them in their current situation to begin with. This Peter is merely another iteration of his dead son and he treats him as such. Peter could start telling them things about their lives that he knows but they may not even be valid any more in this timeline. I can’t wait to see how they resolve this.

Colin Farrell shows off the goodies in a low cut cardigan

If there is one man on the planet that can work a bit of man-cleavage it’s Colin Farrell! The smokin’ hot Irishman was spotted whilst out for a lunch run in Los Angeles, California on Friday, November 3rd, 2011.

While most people would have worn a shirt underneath such a low-cut cardigan, I admire the Fright Night star for being so bold as to show off his sexy chest!

It was announced this week that Colin would be teaming up with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev for the action-thriller entitled Dead Man Down. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (who plays the lead role in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will also star.

As disappointed as I am that our beloved Dubliner did not get cast in the most anticipated movie of the decade (according to me) Magic Mike, I am elated that we will get to see him on the big screen again!

American Horror Story: Halloween Part 2

American Horror Story got about the business of answering some questions this week in Halloween Part 2 but I still think this show has way too many irons in the fire. Keeping up with it all is more exhausting than deciphering Lost. It is Halloween still and according to the rules the ghosts that haunt this house can all walk free for one night only.

As last week’s episode came to a close it looked as if Violet was spirited away to an unknown fate by the Rubber Man as Larry the Burn Guy squawked and stomped around on the front porch. This week we find out that no such thing happened. Rubber Man vanished, Larry (Denis O’Hare) left after scaring some trick-or-treaters and Tate showed up to whisk Violet away for their date. Once this fact has been established by a quick cell phone call Ben (Dylan McDermott) grabs the nearest shovel and sets out to dispose of Hayden again. Instead he finds Larry and assumes that he and Hayden are plotting to extort money from him. Ben doesn’t catch on very fast does he?

Hayden (Kate Mara) is a persistent little thing and torments poor Viv about Ben’s trip to Boston. Her trick of writing ASK HIM in the steam on the bathroom mirror was especially effective considering she wasn’t in the room at the time. But making Viv (Connie Britton) think she had cooked the dog was just cruel and made me dread the inevitable reboot of Fatal Attraction. When the two finally do come face to face it isn’t pretty as each finds out the other is pregnant with Ben caught in the middle and he’s forced to come clean. I know someone who’ll be sleeping on the couch forever.

Down at the beach Violet’s date with Tate (Evan Peters) is going well and he continues to be adorably tortured until a group of high school kids show up who are either wearing the best Halloween makeup ever or are dead. I am going with dead, and they have a bone to pick with Tate who quickly gets Violet out of there and back home. It isn’t long before the kids show up again and Tate leads them on a chase around the neighborhood. When they finally corner him they want answers about why he killed them, but he has no idea who they are. This adds more fuel to my suspicion that Tate is dead and doesn’t know it, but it opens up a whole other can of worms such as how did Tate become Ben’s patient, who is paying the bill and who did Ben call to tell them he couldn’t treat him anymore? Plot holes like this are usually reserved for Glee so I hope they tie all this up pretty soon. They also confirmed another suspicion of mine; that Tate is Constance’s perfect son.

Speaking of Constance (Jessica Lange) she seems to have softened up a bit in the wake of Addie’s death. Her conversation with Violet was downright maternal and dare I say the two bonded. She did reveal to Violet the truth about who Tate is but there was no mention made of this notorious Westerfield High massacre. I suspect we’ll learn more about that in the coming weeks. I did think the obvious reference to the Columbine massacre was unnecessary though. No need to beat us over the head with it.

American Horror Story has managed to keep me on board for another week but it is teetering dangerously close to falling apart under all the weight of the plot. I did enjoy seeing Chad (Zachary Quinto) again and thought his comment about feeling forever trapped in a house he’ll never be satisfied with was very telling. Moria (Frances Conroy) confirmed his fears as the ghosts that haunt the Harmon’s house all returned at sunrise.
