I remember back in the bad ol’ days when JC Penny was the spot only my mother could shop at. Then when Nicole Miller and Charlotte Ronson created a masstige line for the retailer, mom and I could finally enjoy a shared shopping experience under one roof!
So you can only imagine the excitement I am feeling after hearing the BIG news yesterday that Nanette Lepore is the latest addition to the JC Penny family! The “l’amour nanette lepore” line is sadly a “teen-focused” collection, but if I start to diet seriously I might be able to squeeze into some of the pieces.
“Because my muse is my amazing daughter Violet, the l’amour nanette lepore brand will embody the energy and vitality of her generation,” said Nanette Lepore. “As jcpenney evolves, I can’t think of a better retailer to bring this brand to life. Soon, every young fashionista will have the opportunity to add a little l’amour to her wardrobe.”
Michael Francis, President of JC Penny, promises the department store will be “working with the most influential designers in the business, like Nanette Lepore, to entirely redesign the jcpenney shopping experience around a series of distinctive brand environments.” My mother will be shocked and surprised when I am the one suggesting we head to penny’s and not her!
Nanette Lepore is a brand that is synonymous with the Hollywood lifestyle. It counts Eva Longoria, Miley Cyrus, Christy Turlington-Burns, Nikki Reed, and Jessica Lowndes as fans!
The l’amour nanette lepore brand will debut as its own distinct shop beginning February 2013.
UPDATE: Apparently Nanette has decided to totally squash my dreams by letting me know that the collection will only feature pieces her daughter would wear to school.
Sigh….maybe next time?
