Suits Set Visit: Gabriel Macht stuns in a tuxedo, talks season two

We just received our photos back from the Suits set visit and I must say I’m a bit disappointed. Our photographer snapped away like mad when Gabriel Macht, aka James Bond, arrived in the conference room but for some reason we only got the one shown above.

But I digress, I have goodies to share from our interview with him! (one photo is better than none after all but I’d have like for you guys to enjoy the full view)

As I mentioned in my post set visit wrap-up, the season premiere of Suits sets up the upcoming season with a lot more drama to be had. Daniel Hardman (guest star David Costabile) reemerges after the death of his wife and while his intentions seem to be honorable, I have a feeling he is out for blood.

In episode 2.01, we learn that Harvey (Macht) and Jessica (Gina Torres) had a lot more on Hardman than infidelities. He was stealing money from his accounts though he has since paid them all back. Hardman makes the big announcement to everyone in the office so as to earn their trust back but I’m not so sure Harvey is convinced of his intentions.

G. Macht: I mean, without giving away too much, I think as an audience member you’re gonna see Hardman, and he’s this guy that you know had these problems, and he screwed up royally, but he’s really coming back trying to make amends. And so, as an audience member you’re supposed to trust him, and believe that he’s just trying to be okay. But, you know, it is television, and [LAUGH] um, I mean, I just don’t trust him.

So, in Episode 2, you learn why Harvey doesn’t really like him or trust him. [He's a] totally untrustworthy guy, but you know we hope that he comes across trustworthy at times. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him.

You might notice some familiar faces making special appearances this season that you might have thought were gone for good. Two people in specific that I think you should look out for are Travis Tanner (guest star Eric Close) and Harvey’s former mentor Cameron Davis (guest star Gary Cole).

Tanner, who you will remember from season one who Donna refers to quite sweetly as “that tennis playing douchebag” will be back and boy does he bring the drama!

G. Macht: Travis Tanner from the first season, he comes back. He sues the firm, and he tries to sue a General Motors-type car company. There’s some information that may have been buried again, and so this question that Harvey’s been involved not once but twice in burying some, evidence comes into question, and the truth is … he didn’t bury it. It was looked over, and it does set this huge house of cards to sort of crumble, which is great for the dramatic purposes of the show.

I guess that’s as much as I can give you.

Another big topic during our chat was about this “flashback episode” that both Gabriel and co-star Patrick J. Adams were nervous to confirm. Luckily we spoke to Executive Producer Gene Klein who gave us a much more solid answer.

G. Klein: There is a flashback. [LAUGHS] Um you know it’s hard – it’s hard to characterize it fully because it’s a script that’s being written right now. I don’t know everything about it other than what was in the outline. Let me say you get glimpses into the past for both Harvey and Mike.

Gabriel gave us a tiny bit more insight:

G.Macht: Yeah, I don’t really know much. All I know is that, as it stood a month ago, and this could completely change, is that Harvey was on a train, and there was some flashback. He’s just thinking about a bunch of stuff, and there’s some flashbacks. And where-where he ends up is a pretty emotional place.

For those of you wondering why Mr. Macht looked so drop-dead-gorgeous on that particular day of shooting, I asked him what the storyline was.

G. Macht: This is how I wake up and … this is how I dress. I mean … uh, [LAUGH] I get my makeup and hair done every morning.

We’re shooting a scene where, [LAUGH] a client of mine owns an energy company, and, um, he has been told not to drink, and not to gamble, and I’ve been told that he’s in Atlantic City, or he’s-he’s going Atlantic City to give a key … he’s a keynote speaker, um, at a conference. And there’s something that tells me that like he’s in Atlantic City, how is not gonna have a drink, and how is he not gonna play poker? And, um, I just show up at Mike’s apartment, and I say, “Get your tux on, we’re going to Atlantic City. We got to chaperone this guy.” And it turns out, he is drunk, and he’s playing poker, and he asked somebody to back him on a little napkin, and he loses his entire $30 million company.

Finally, there is one question that everyone is wondering so we had to ask. Is there love in Harvey’s future?

G. Macht: I would love to see him fall in love. And I would love to see if he did fall in love, if he moves forward and she takes him, and she falls in love with him, or if you know, she’s the one who got away, and how does that manifest?

There was talk that there’s someone in there that, uh, I think in a couple episodes, I think in a couple episodes, I haven’t read the scripts, that Harvey was working in the office as an associate, there was another woman who’s an associate and they had something.

Don’t forget to tune in to the season two premiere of Suits on Thursday, June 14th at 10pm, only on USA Network.
