Gabriel Macht Teases Harvey and Donna Conflict: Trouble Ahead on Suits!

Gabriel Macht & Patrick J Adams at "A Suits Story"

First off, let me say I had a microphone malfunction, courtesy of yours truly incredible lack of attention, so the best joke I had about a certain tux went wasted. Which never pleases me in general, but particularly when I’m talking to an incredibly charming, good-looking chap like Gabriel Macht.

Soooo, you guessed it, yours truly just talked with the one and only Mr. Macht, and we of course talked about the upcoming season of Suits, that premieres tomorrow night on USA Network. Expanding on the previous scoop we had about Diane Neal guest-starring on the show as Allison Holt, we can now give you a little bit more context, courtesy of Mr. swoon-worthy Macht himself. Because we’re that good.

Just so it’s clear… THESE ARE SPOILERS. You don’t want to be spoiled? Don’t read what follows. Though of course you’ll miss out on some serious goodies for Season 2 of Suits! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Alessandra: It seems like between casting call and actual casting, things changed quite a bit for the character of Allison Holt. And, seen as Diane Neal is a very attractive young woman playing this empowered attorney, can we say, without giving too much away, that the questioning between her and Harvey could get more… personal? (Note: the character was originally supposed to be an empowered attorney in her 50s, but then Diane Neal was cast for the role. Clearly not in her 50s and also VERY easy on the eye!)

Gabriel Macht: It does get a little personal, but only in the way they’ve done business, in the history of business. Harvey doesn’t like this woman, he doesn’t want her to represent the firm. He doesn’t trust Hardman and he thinks he could hang Harvey to dry.

Harvey is all about winning, and he sees she’s lost three cases, so he’s wondering: “Why is this woman representing the firm? Maybe she’s the right choice but maybe not, there could be someone better out there.”

Alessandra: “Allison Holt is a favorite of Daniel Hardman (the Hardman in Pearson Hardman, who comes back to the firm this season)… could Harvey use her as a pawn in the power war between him and Jessica (Gina Torres) on the one side, and Daniel(David Costabile) on the other?”

Gabriel Macht: “Oh no, it’s not Harvey who uses her, it’s Hardman who uses her as a pawn in the war!”

Which means, things could get reeeally tense between Harvey and Donna. Why? Because (and I’m giving you more details here, and I can’t say too much, but I gotta give you guys something, right?) Allison Holt comes into play in a matter that rears its ugly head again, that Donna was involved in and that could jeopardize Harvey’s entire career (not to mention the firm). So, basically Holt may pit Harvey against Donna and Donna against Harvey… in the interest of the firm. Uh? I smell Daniel Hardman ploy here. So what’s ahead for Harvey and Donna?

Gabriel Macht: “First off, Sarah Rafferty and I go back twenty years. Our daughters are best friends, we’re close friends. It’s a very hard act with one of your best pals. We constantly tell each other: “Don’t make me laugh! Don’t make me laugh! Stop!”. And then I’m her boss on the show, and all that. But regarding Harvey and Donna: Harvey trusts her to no end, he thinks she’s amazing, he loves how strong she is, how quick-witted and hilarious she is. He does learn that she was sort of involved with something that kinda gets Harvey into BIG trouble, and they come to knocking heads. (Note: yes, this is what I was teasing above). There’s a lot of conflict between Harvey and Donna this season, and I really hope that they’re able to figure out how to manage their decision-making.”

All I can tell you is… I am not a fan of this Allison Holt character, and the fact she’s all best pals with Mr. “I came back and now I am different” (except not) Hardman makes me like her even less. But oh, this is such a juicy storyline that I am dying to see it play out on screen already. Oh, the drama, oh, sexy angry Harvey! Yeah well, I’m just saying what everyone thinks. Don’t even pretend you don’t.

And seen as I couldn’t help myself asking about my other favorite… are you wondering if Harvey changes attitude a bit to help Mike (Patrick J. Adams)? Wonder no more.

Alessandra: “Is Harvey turning a bit into Mike this season? The haircut is different, the attitude is a bit different, especially in the season premiere. Harvey goes above and beyond to protect Mike, risking his own career, something which we’ve never seen him do for someone before. And well, he does get very personal about the whole matter. Could Harvey be absorbing some of Mike’s qualities?

Gabriel Macht: “ In many ways, you’ve seen Harvey stand up for people he believes in before, but he did so behind the scenes. This season, he does it in front of them. That’s gonna pose a real vulnerability to Hardman’s return, so I think he figures out a very sort of intelligent way to keep both Mike AND himself over there (at the firm).”

All I’ll say about this is… remember how Mike’s drug-dealing “friend” went to Jessica in the season finale? Well he did blabber. Remember how the firm is called Pearson Hardman but there’s only Pearson? Well, Hardman is going to return, obviously. And it won’t be a peaceful and easy return. Especially because of the circumstances that led him to leave in the first place.

So, while I was busy being enchanted by Mr. Macht’s eloquence of speech, I did not forget to deliver the scoop goodies here! I promise you, this season is going to be exceptionally juicy. If you liked the first one, you’ll like the second even more. I’ll concede that Mr. Macht has a ridiculous amount of charm, and the thought of it, not to mention the thought of him in a tux, distracted me, but hey. I’m a girl who delivers, no matter how much hotness there is around! (By the way, you can ask our boss Rosy here how it is to stand the sight of Mr. Macht in a tux on set in person… she had quite the experience! Ahem.)

Just so we’re clear, on the shallow side of the scoop, believe it, the tux happens this season, more than once, and it is gooooood. And yes, we also get sexy Mike in a tux. This show will kill me with the handsome, I swear. The only show I handle worse in that sense is Necessary Roughness. Because Marc Blucas and Mehcad Brooks. ‘nuff said. USA Network is attempting murder here, I’m telling you. My coronaries can only handle so much!

But regardless, you know you don’t want to miss the season 2 premiere of Suits tomorrow night at 10 p.m. on USA Network (and while we’re at it, you also don’t want to miss the second season 2 episode of Necessary Roughness, tonight at 10 p.m. on USA Network!). I promise I’ll be back… with a new batch of hotness, I mean SCOOP, soon! Bye, lovelies!
