Cast of “Sons of Anarchy” participate in ‘Boot Ride and Rally’ to help soldiers

The only thing better than Sons of Anarchy returning for a fifth season on September 11th is getting a chance to meet them all, up close and personal. SAMCRO was in full force in Hollywood for the 2nd Annual Boot Ride and Rally held at The Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant on August 26, 2012 in Hollywood, California and I was there in the middle of all the action. It was great talking to Jax (Charlie Hunnam), Clay (Ron Perlman), Opie (Ryan Hurst) and the rest of the Sons, and seeing them giving back in support of our troops. Theo Rossi (Juice) and Kim Coates (Tig) greeted the crowd and shared their connection to the troops and the Boot Campaign. (To learn more about Boot Ride Click Here)

Even though SOA creator Kurt Sutter wasn’t anywhere to be seen, his presence was most certainly felt. Cast members played coy about potential storylines for their characters and in regards to the show in general! I think the general sentiment can be best summed up by Emilio Rivera (Marcus Alvarez), “You’re not gonna get much from me.” One thing he could share was (regarding SAMCRO) “We’re friends right now and I’m alive so I’m happy about that.”

Perlman was just as vague letting us know that his character,“Clay may or may not try to take back an alpha role within the club.”

Thankfully Maggie was a little more open about what we can expect from Tara this season. “She really is stepping into a powerful and more aggressive position and doing what she has to do to protect her children and protect her club.” While Maggie doesn’t think Tara will be the new Gemma, “she’s (Tara) taken a few lessons from Gemma for sure.” Maggie also shared that one of the ongoing themes this season will be the power struggle between Tara and Gemma, “that extent to where they need each other versus being antagonistic with each other.”

Opie, having gone through so much in season four, goes into season 5 “he’s sort of had enough with everybody in the club and has to reconcile whether he wants to stay in the club or not” according to Hurst.

Coats, shared that this next season “Tig’s off the leash now, I have no loyalties anymore except to the club. Tig’s confused, he’s angry, he’s upset.”

Theo Rossi’s main claim for his character is that “everything has its recourse. What goes up must come down.” Rossi raises one of the most important questions this season, “Will Jax turn out like John Teller or will he turn out like Clay Morrow?”

I think the general consensus is that this season will be crazier, more explosive and more intense than season four. I know I am personally counting down the days til the season premiere. If you want to re-live the drama of season four, the DVD/Blu-Ray is out in stores tomorrow. Click here to purchase

Don’t forget to tune in for an all new season of Sons of Anarchy, September 11th, only on FX.
