Spoiler Alert: Cast of Sons of Anarchy step out for Los Angeles premiere!

With only two days left before the public can enjoy the return of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, the SAMCRO boys and special guests congregated at Westwood Village in Los Angeles, California to kick things off in true Hollywood fashion. We were on the red carpet getting you the latest scoop, so be warned, if you are looking to avoid spoilers at all costs, just enjoy the attached photos then check out one of our other top stories! But if you are interested in finding out some tidbits of what the future might hold for the Charming guys and gals, then we welcome you to continue reading!Season five will welcome back guest star Danny Trejo in the role of Romero “Romeo” Parada, a high-ranking member of the Galindo Cartel as well as a CIA asset. Jax (Charlie Hunnam) is going to try to use his knowledge of Romeo’s double allegiance to his benefit, but whether or not Romeo is going to “play ball” is yet to be seen. Trejo told me that Romeo’s “the toughest CIA agent you’ve ever seen, ” but didn’t elaborate at all about his characters dealings this season. Oh Kurt Sutter, I don’t know what you say to the cast but you are preventing us from getting too much!

Rockin’ a cap from his latest production Machete Kills, Trejo was happy to give us some insight on what we can expect from the highly anticipated sequel.

“Jessica [Alba] and I kill like twelve people in the first two minutes,” Trejo said.

And what was that about Machete in outer space?

Fellow Latino bad ass Jimmy Smits is coming on board for season five as a love interest for Gemma (Katey Sagal), who has finally separated from husband Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman). After Jimmy’s brilliant turn on Dexter, I’m excited to see what the veteran actor brings to the table.

“His name is Nero,” Jimmy explained about his character. “And if you go back into historical things, Nero is the guy who fiddled while everything burned. So I don’t know if that’s an indication of anything [of what we can expect from his character this season].

He’s led the life, he’s seen hard times but he has an exit strategy, which is one of the reasons he and Jax’s character kind of bond in a way, at least right now.”

Nero comes through for Jax and a few other members quite early in the season and if I’m right, you can expect he will be cashing in that favor in a big way. I can’t wait to sit back and watch the fireworks!

Smits couldn’t stop boasting about Sutter’s amazing talent at telling a story and I couldn’t agree more. (Especially after screening the first two episodes of S5 in preparation for the red carpet!)

After watching the season four finale last year, I had a hard time understanding the reasons why Clay’s life was spared but after seeing where the character is today, I understand why Sutter chose to go about it this way. You simply cannot have such a rotten individual, that was built up for four seasons, just die. It’s too easy, he needs to be deconstructed. And I feel like that is what we are going to see happen in season 5.

Clay has ironically traded places with Piney (William Lucking), who he killed in order to keep his secrets hidden, and is now the broken man who walks around with his oxygen tank and who can’t even hold up his bike anymore! I have an inkling that Clay would rather die than switch over to a Harley Davidson Electra Tri Glide, but I have been wrong before.

“After 62 years of getting everything you ever dreamed of and thought you wanted, and then you lose everything except for your life, I hope that you take the opportunity to decide what is important, what is salvageable, what to fight for,” Perlman said about his characters need for redemption.

Charlie Hunnam, no doubt, has the biggest role of the season as he has taken Clay’s place at the head of the table and responsibility over the Sons. When you add the drama of his relationship with his lady love Tara (Maggie Siff), mother Gemma, estranged best friend Opie (Ryan Hurst), and Tig (Kim Coates), who finds himself full of inner struggle after a tragedy, I have no idea how he is going to be able to handle it all.

Lest we forget to mention that with Opie keeping his distance (at least at first), the spot of VP must be filled.

“I think there is a lot of responsibility in the motorcycle club being the vice president,” Charlie said. “You’re not the final word on the politics of the club and you’re not ultimately the face of the club. Some things in the past where Jax could afford to be a little more impulsive and reckless, he has to really question the way he handles problems when they arise.”

“Once Jax moved up to president, we needed a VP so now I have Bobby (Mark Boone Jr). And Tommy Flanagan (Chibs) as the Sergeant of Arms,” he continued.

Now that the secret is out about Bobby taking the coveted right seat next to the president, I had the chance to chat a bit with Boone who offered us some interesting info on his role for the upcoming season.

“The whole shift in the dynamic has brought out a whole other side of a lot of the members of the club,” Mark said. “Clay is kind of on the outskirts of the whole thing. He has a lot going on still, but he is not involved in the club nearly as much.”

When I asked Boone if he sees Jax being more like John Teller or Clay Morrow, he exclaims he “would like him to be more like Jax Teller, to find his own place in the history of the club, and I think he is doing that.”

You won’t be able to ignore the parallels that emerge between Jax and his father as the premiere opens with Jax narrating a letter he is writing to his son. There is also this moment where the club is celebrating a milestone as the world begins to crumble around them, when Jax is unexpectedly presented with a token from his father.

What a great night and what an exceptional way to get pumped up for season five! Don’t forget to tune in to Sons of Anarchy which premieres this Tuesday, September 11th on FX!
