I still remember jamming out to RBD’s extensive list of hits including the crossover sensation Tu Amor, so it was a huge pleasure to meet Maite Perroni at a media luncheon in Miami last week. The 29-year-old brunette was promoting Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program as its ambassador, to help give hope to women fighting cancer.

It must be said that Maite is one of the sweetest and most down-to-earth celebrities that I have ever met. She took her time during our luncheon to discuss openly with us why the program is so important to her.

“I’m very proud to join Pantene in support of this great cause that is so close to my heart!, Maite said. “One of the most difficult moments of my life was when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. I realized that this disease comes without knocking on your door,” said Maite. “I invite you to grow and donate your healthy hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, and give the gift of hope to women who are in the fight for their lives.”

Beautiful Lengths is a partnership between Pantene and the American Cancer Society, the largest non-profit health organization committed to saving lives from every cancer and improving the quality of life for people facing the disease. The role of Pantene is to help women grow long, strong, beautiful hair and provide the funds to turn this hair into free, real-hair wigs for women with cancer. So far, Pantene has donated 24,000 free real-hair wigs to the American Cancer Society’s wig banks, which distribute wigs to cancer patients across the country.

This is such an important program that helps women feel good about themselves at a moment when they need it the most. It’s fantastic that such a well respected brand like Pantene cares so much about the community to provide this type of service free of charge.

Maite recorded a little message for fans to let them know a little bit about the program. You will have to excuse me though, this is the first time I make a video with my iPhone 5 and I had no idea I was meant to hold the camera horizontally! I know, I’m a hot mess but it’s my first iPhone!!
