We are one week away from Halloween but you don’t have to wait that long to see your favorite Suburgatory characters getting into costume! I had the pleasure to chat with series star Cheryl Hines this week where she gave us a little insight as to what we can expect to see from her character, Dallas Royce, not just for the “The Witch of East Chatswin” episode but also for the rest of the season.

Since the series began, there has been a connection between Dallas and suburban transplant Jeremey Sisto who moved to the fictional town of Chatswin from New York City to give his daughter Tessa (Jane Levy) a better life. Tonight you will see Dallas take the plunge and ask George to be the Ken to her Barbie but will he be responsive?

I’ve had a crush on Jeremy since first spotting him in 1995′s Clueless followed by his excellent portrayal of Billy Chenowith in Six Feet Under. I could talk all day about how much I love Jeremy and all the great work he has done since Six Feet Under but instead I opted to tell Ms. Hines exaclty how I felt!

Cheryl, I’m so jealous that you have a potential love story with my tv crush Jeremy Sisto!

“Can I tell you every woman in America is going to be in love with him if they are not already this season. He’s so cute and so charming it’s really – yes you should be jealous. I guess that’s what I’m trying to say.”

Why do think Dallas is attracted to George? For all intents and purposes he is her opposite in every way, is that what she likes?

“George is unlike anyone she’s ever met before. And he brings something real to her life. And she for so long has been concentrating on everything else — money, and looks, and what kind of house you have, and how big your cabana is so to speak. And George isn’t concerned about any of that and it’s refreshing to Dallas. It’s like looking at good art for the first time in person. It strikes you.”

Malin Akerman has been cast to play the role of George’s ex-wife Alex, who up until now has not had very much contact with their daughter Tessa. Will her arrival bring a rift between Dallas and George?

“It does yes. What’s great about Suburgatory is even though it’s a heightened reality and it’s a satire and there are lots of crazy things that happen and wild characters. The writers are very good about writing sophisticated complicated relationships.

The idea that Tessa doesn’t know who her mother is and then has been searching for her and how that makes George feel and how that makes Dallas feel. When Tessa finally finds her it’s complicated. There’s no easy answer and there’s no easy relationship. And somehow the writers can make that all touching and very funny at the same time.

What does a sassy and sexy chica like Dallas wear on Halloween? I can’t imagine she would be into anything pre-made that can be easily copied.

“Well Dallas wasn’t sure what to go as for Halloween. And then she said she came home to a dream house with her dream life and realized she’s Barbie. So it’s funny because even when I was trying on clothes for Barbie in wardrobe they weren’t that different from Dallas’s regular wardrobe.

If anything what’s funny about that is when I do dress up as Barbie I’m probably more covered than any other outfit I’ve ever worn on the show. But it’s significant actually because she asks George to be her Ken.”

You did a great job singing on Jack’s Big Music Show! Any chance you will be doing any singing on Suburgatory?

“Oh my gosh. I really hope not. Just to call them singing skills as really a stretch. I honestly don’t know how they got me to sing on that show now that I think about it.”

“No but I will be doing some dancing. There’s an episode when George and well Tessa and Dalia have a hip-hop dance off and then George – which leads to a Dallas and George dance off. So I’ll be doing enough ridiculous things that hopefully I won’t never have to sing on the show.”
