Lala Anthony launches new make-up line in Miami

Latina beauty Lala Anthony stepped onto the stage at Market America’s World Conference in Miami in front of 20,000 people to launch her beauty line, Motives for LaLa yesterday. With famous friends Kim Kardashian, Larsa and Scottie Pippen, Angie Martinez and Fat Joe all sitting front row, Lala spoke alongside Internet mogul Loren Ridinger, SVP of Market America/ Shop.com about the new collection.

Having my name on a cosmetics line has always been a dream, one I’m excited to share. Every girl always tries to find that perfect color or shade that suits their personality, and now she can do it easily and affordably.” -LaLa Anthony

I so can relate to what she is saying, 110%. Growing up, I went through phases of when my make-up was so many shades of ivory because there wasn’t much availability of products catered to women like me who are darker complected.

Motives for LaLa can be purchased from Market America via this link! Don’t forget to pick me up a few of those Mineral Lipshines and Mineral Blushes for me…LOVE THEM!

Steal My Look: Sofia Vergara and Paula Patton rock CoverGirl at Golden Globes

Check out just about any of the “Best Dressed” lists from the Golden Globes and you will find Sofia Vergara and Paula Patton somewhere at the top! Both women dared to be different, walking out in bold colors showing off their amazing personalities that sets them apart from the rest.

As part of Make-up Monday, I have an amazing treat that will help you “Steal their Look” using the same products from CoverGirl that their make-up artists used on them!

Sofia Vergara, who is a spokesperson for the brand, dazzled on the red carpet in a deep blue Vera Wang gown. She also dripped in diamonds, $5 million dollars worth from Harry Winston!

Kayleen McAdams took care of all her make-up for the event and here she breaks it down for you, please try this at home!

Inspiration/Dress: This look is all about the lips. We chose a bright plum lip and kept the eyes soft with bronze shadow and multiple coats of mascara. The dress is a gorgeous Vera Wang in a shade of teal and the hair is very sleek and youthful so we wanted the makeup to stand out and look youthful as well.

Face: I started by applying COVERGIRL TRUconceal Concealer #4 under the eyes and around the nose. I then applied COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg with a sponge and set that with COVERGIRL Clean Pressed Powder in Soft Honey. I chose a plum toned blush (COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow) and applied it along the cheekbones and apples of the cheeks.

Eyes: I applied COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 3-kit Shadow in Golden Sunsetall over the lid and into the crease and then applied three coats of NEW COVERGIRL LashBlast 24HR Mascara to the top lashes and one coat on the bottom.

Lips: I applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor in Everlastingfirst and then applied COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipliner in Beloved.

Application Tip: This keeps the lipstick from bleeding, but makes it easier to apply the line with the moisture of the lipstick.

What’s in the clutch?: When she was ready to hit the red carpet, I sent Sofia on her way with powder, lip pencil and lipstick for reapplication.

Paula Patton was a personal favorite in a bright yellow Monique Lhuillier gown which complemented her skin tone perfectly! Paula, the newest ambassador for COVERGIRL’s Queen Collection, worked with make-up artist Fiona Stiles who hooked her up with some of the lines’ hottest products.

Inspiration/Dress: Paula was wearing a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, a beautiful sunny yellow. We wanted to keep the look light and pretty, focusing on lashes and cheeks, playing up the happy element of the color.

Face: After prepping the skin, I used a flat synthetic foundation brush to swipe on COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Makeup in Rich Sand, applying it to the bridge of the nose, the cheeks, the forehand and the chin. Then I used the brush to blend the color out towards the jaw and hairline, going over the base with a criss-cross motion to ensure that it was well blended and there were no lines.

I used a little COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Concealer in Light to cover any darkness under the eye or redness along the side of the nose, feathering it out so it blended perfectly with the foundation. Before I powdered with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Pressed Powder in Light Bronze, I used a dual fiber brush to apply a bit of COVERIGRL + Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry onto the apples of the cheeks and then after I powdered, I used a touch of COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink to brighten the face a bit more.

Application Tip: I like to combine cream and powder blush – just make sure you apply “like to like,” so use the cream blush before you powder and the powder blush after the makeup is set.

Eyebrows: Next I focused on the brows. I gave them a nice full look by adding a little to the shape with COVERGIRL Brow & Eyemakers Pencil in Midnight Brown. The key to making it not look too heavy is to run a clean spooly through the brows after you fill in with pencil. This softens the lines and blends the color in, making it undetectable. Set the brows with a clear gel, brushing the hairs into the desired shape.

Eyes: For the eyes, I started by sweeping COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Light Bronzeover the lid, giving the eye a wash of warmth and a little depth, while still looking like her skin. Then I took COVERGIRL Queen Collection Eyeliner in Black Onyxand drew a black line all along the upper lash line, pushing it into the lashes. Taking a small synthetic brush, I smudged the line, softening the edge, making it less severe. I used a little black liner on the bottom as well, pushing it deep into the lashes so that when I applied NEW COVERGIRL LashBlast 24HR Mascara, the illusion was thicker, darker lashes.

Lips: A soft pale, peachy lip achieved using COVERGIRL Queen Collection Lip Gloss in Starlet Sand, made Paula look radiant without distracting too much from the eyes, and the wash of warm pink on the cheeks gave her a fresh, healthy flush.

Focus: The eyes–soft liner and strong lashes–were the focus of the look, so the lips and cheeks were just meant to compliment them.

What’s in the clutch?: I gave Paula her lip gloss, a few cotton buds, and some blotting papers for her to take with her on the red carpet. I wish I could be there to touch up my clients when they get to the red carpet, but once I leave them they are on their own. The challenge is fitting all of those touch up supplies in those teeny tiny clutches!

Both women were stunning and I hope to recreate the look at home soon! Who was your favorite?

La La Anthony partners with Loren Ridinger for debut cosmetics line

Big news for us brown girls who have trouble finding the ride shade of make-up! La La Anthony, known for her VH-1 reality show La La’s Full Court Life, has teamed up with longtime friend Loren Ridinger, senior vice president of Market America/SHOP.com and creator of the award-winning Motives® by Loren Ridinger® cosmetics line, to create Motives® for La La, a line of makeup uniquely-formulated for every shade of today’s modern woman.

According to the press release,”Motives for La La includes mineral base lipsticks, blushes, lip shines and more, and will be formally introduced next month at Market America’s 2012 World Conference at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL.”

I remember my younger years when I tried to find models whose complexion resembled mine and it was impossible. So you can imagine what it was like to hit the stores trying to find make-up that came closest to matching my skin tone but still coming up short….many times.

But with products like Motives for La La, women won’t ever go through that ever again!

“Having my name on a cosmetics line has always been a dream, one I’m excited to share,” La La said. “Every girl always tries to find that perfect color or shade that suits their personality, and now she can do it easily and affordably.”

The line will include palettes you can use both on sexy nights out or for everyday use when you want to keep it casual-yet-pretty.

So excited!!

We have yet to pop the champagne at midnight on New Years Eve but already we are getting some amazing previews of what is to come in 2012. Revlon has unveiled Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde in their debut campaigns showing off products in a wide array of colors sure to suit every beauty buff.

Stone, who starred in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Easy A, looks young and fresh in Revlon’s ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait which claims “to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.”

Wilde, known for her work on House and Cowboys and Aliens, was photographed wearing Revlon’s ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow in a beautiful turquoise shade. With 64 shades ready to be unleashed in 2012, you can be sure the perfect palette for you will be out there!

Both ladies worked with celebrity make-up artist Gucci Westman for these campaigns who serves as Global Artistic Director and has even created two seasonal collections for the beauty giant.

Look out for these, and a new advertisement from fellow ambassador Halle Berry in the new year!

Countdown to Christmas: Justin Bieber “Someday” Perfume

Make fun of me if you will but over the past couple of months I’ve changed my opinion on Justin Bieber. Who am I to dislike a guy because he has rabid followers who are willing to do crazy things for their idol?I had the chance to listen to his interview on The Elvis Duran Show via Y-100 here in Miami, and I soon realized what a great kid he is! No one was more shocked than I was (or my husband who ALSO admits to now being a Belieber!) so I was excited to check out his new fragrance, Someday. The signature scent was created with his female fans in mind and part of the proceeds from every purchase benefits two of his favorite charities; Make-A-Wish Foundation and Pencils of Promise.

“Not only am I able to create a fragrance for all my fans, but I am able to give back to charity, which is a huge priority for me,” Bieber told WWD in an interview before the launch. “The people at Give Back Brands really get me, and what I represent and care about.”

I sampled the fragrance and its juicy mandarin, pear and wild berry notes helped bring back the spring/summer into the winter. I can imagine myself wearing this scent right before stepping out into the cold and still being able to imagine the flowers that surrounded me just a few months ago.

Women’s Wear Daily even  Give Back Brands, who created the fragrance alongside Bieber, the “Beauty Biz Award” for Product of the Year in the Prestige Fragrance Category at the 2011 Beauty Biz Awards!

You can purchase Someday just in time for that special someone this Christmas at Macy’s, Sephora, and fine department stores nationwide.

Make-Up Monday: CoverGirl BlastFlipstick and LashBlast 24HR Mascara

Ever since CoverGirl announced Sofia Vergara as their newest spokesperson, I was excited to see what fun products she would represent. I was given an early preview of two items from the collection, the BlastFlipstick and the LashBlast 24HR Mascara before it hits stores in January 2012 and I’m loving them!

My favorite product for 2012 is CoverGirls BlastFlipstic ($8.49), a double-ended lipstick with shades you can blend to create different looks. The brands’ Global Creative Design Director and makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath mentioned why this technique is so fantastic.

• “Lip color blending is key backstage because it gives me the power to design unique, high-fashion looks to complement any style. I love that COVERGIRL BlastFlipstick empowers everyone to create their own signature look every day.”

Mascara is not a favorite beauty of mine, I much prefer playing with eye shadows and lipsticks since its tough to get my eyelashes to curl. But LashBlast 24HR ($8.95) has this fabulous brush that gave my lashes amazing volume! The true test for me is that the mascara doesn’t irritate my eyes since I wear contact lenses.

I also really enjoyed the fact that it didn’t clump and that I didn’t have to re-apply.

Both items are set to hit stores next month. To stay up-to-date with all the latest news from Covergirl, make sure to follow their Facebook page here.
