OPI announces collaboration with new American Idol judge Mariah Carey!

Mariah Carey is having quite a fabulous year when it comes down to making big business decisions! Not only has the divalicious mommy-of-two become the newest judge on American Idol and announced her return to acting but she is now collaborating with nail giant OPI!

According to the release, “Carey will be the inspiration for a line of OPI limited edition nail lacquers that will launch January 2013.”

“OPI is thrilled to work with Mariah, an industry icon who loves nails and considers lacquer one of her favorite accessories,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “With her magnetic personality both on and off the stage, Mariah serves as a great inspiration for beautiful, bold colors.”

No other details about the line were available but if we know our girl Mimi we can speculate about what trends we could expect to see. This includes various shades of pink and lots and lots of glitter! If she can find a way to incorporate a Hello Kitty somehow or a butterfly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see a little (or a lot) of that!

Are you excited about Mariah’s collaboration with OPI?

CoverGirl announces P!nk is their newest spokesperson!

One of my favorite things about CoverGirl, is how they always pick such remarkable women to represent their brand. Just moments ago, the CG team announced not only the name of their hot new spokesperson but her intentions to dare women to be edgier!

With her sixth studio album ready to hit stores on September 16th, multiple award winner and mom-of-one Pink has just wrapped up her first print advertising campaign as CoverGirl’s newest spokesperson! P!nk, aka, Alecia Moore, has always exemplified the strength and fearlessness that many of us have admired from afar. Now as a member of the CoverGirl family, she is set to inject much of that power and edge into a new line of products that will debut this fall!

I have a lot to celebrate,” P!nk said in a statement. “I called my new album The Truth About Love, and the truth is that I have my beautiful family and baby girl, my new music, and now my partnership with COVERGIRL to love. Joining a group of women who have always inspired me –to laugh out loud, let my guard down, or play around with my beauty look – is such an honor.”

There isn’t much known yet about the line she will be fronting, but the release did give a tiny bit of details.

As the first chapter of her COVERGIRL story, the singer will be the face of a bold new mascara innovation from the brand. In the months ahead, P!nk will debut many more surprising new beauty looks on her lashes, lips and everything in between.

And here I was worried about colors getting a bit boring as we inch closer to the end of summer. There is no way a line fronted by our girl P!nk would be anything but fearless and fun!

It also hasn’t gone unnoticed that the official photo, shown below from P!nk’s Official Twitter account, goes out of its way to show off a delicious shade of orange on her nails.  Is CG going to start making nail lacquers again?!

L’Oreal Paris hosts Summer Beauty Suite in Miami!

Up in a penthouse suite at the new SLS Hotel on South Beach, L’Oreal Paris welcomed members of the media to an exclusive Summer Beauty Suite last week. The brand unveiled many of their hottest products of the season as well as introduced us to brand ambassadors Claudia Betancur and Marcos Carrasquillo.

The suite was set-up so that we could not just view the products but also try out their make-up and nail lacquers. Jay, our nail professional at the L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Nail Bar, worked his magic by selecting two fun shades for my nails. He chose “Tweet Me” and “Jet Set to Paris” which matched my outfit perfectly.

That is what I love about nail lacquers, you can turn your digits into accessories that match your outfits!

Here is a tip for those of you finding some colors appear too shear on your nails. In order to get the exact shade you see in the bottle, make sure you put a white base (Jay used L’Oreal’s “I Will”). It may seem silly to some but quite a few people had no idea this was the way to achieve the perfect match!

Do you like this color combo?

When it came time to sit in the make-up chair, I was excited to try out L’Oreal’s Infallible Eye Shadow since my girlfriend said it lasts all day. Is there really, truly an eye shadow in existence that you don’t need to re-apply after being out in the Miami heat that maintains its rich color?

Oh yes……and according to the packaging, it lasts for 24 hours!

L’Oreal Infallible in Eternal Sunshine

After we got all glammed up, the team took us to Katsuya where we received a very special recorded message from one of Mexico’s most prominent media personalities and L’Oreal’s newest spokesperson Martha Debayle! Sadly she couldn’t join us due to her busy work schedule, but we were all excited to hear that such a strong Latina had been signed on to represent the brand.

The tv/radio personality/entrepreneur is a great example to women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds! Look for her in ads for the Excellence Crème Pro-Keratine Hair Color in September.

On the left I’m chatting up Claudia Bentancur about the latest beauty trends and on the right I’m with Erika & Danielle from L’Oreal Paris and Rodner Figueroa

L’Oreal also gave us a goody bag with many of the products we saw on display in the suite to try out at home. Watch out for our reviews in the near future! Don’t forget to follow all the latest from L’Oreal Paris on Twitter and Facebook.

Candice Swanepoel and Bregje Heinen launch Body by Victoria in NYC

Candice Swanepoel and Bregje Heinen celebrated Victoria’s Secret newest “body” with the launch of the Body By Victoria collection, a collection of bra styles in smooth and the new lace as well as a new fragrance this morning. The bras are absolutely gorgeous and are the perfect way to update your fall bra wardrobe while incorporating fun new colors including hot tamale red, vivid yellow, pink peony as well as polka dot and floral prints.

Todays product launch at the VS store in SoHo heralds 19-year-old Bregje’s first public appearance as a VS model since we last saw her at the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. If she looks familiar, you might recognize her from the Maroon 5 music video for their latest single, “Payphone.”

That Adam Levine sure does like to feature hot models in his videos!

“It’s the essence of being a woman,” Dutch beauty Bregie said. “It’s my new signature scent.”

Here are some details on the Body by Victoria fragrance:

My girl Candice can’t go without a special mention! I’ve had the pleasure to interview her a couple of times and she is literally one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Not only is she stunning but she maintains a humble personality. Love her!

Blake Lively is golden in debut Gucci fragrance ad

When I first saw Blake Lively in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005 I knew she was something special! All of this was reconfirmed after she took on the role of Serena van der Woodsen in The CW hit Gossip Girl and dazzled audiences all over the world.

What I loved the most about her was her level of relatability, she and I could totally be friends. In fact, I feel like its only a matter of time before Blake meets me and we are off to indulge in a bit of shopping in the Big Apple or having a double date with Ryan Reynolds and one of his hot buds.

But I digress as I hit play on the video short for Gucci Premiere fragrance.

Shot by Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn at one of Beverly Hills’s most famed and opulent locations, the historic Sheats Goldstein Residence. Blake glimmered in a golden Gucci gown as she took in the breathtaking views of the city from her balcony.

All before magically appearing in the desert!

Point is…Blake is fabulous and this new campaign for Gucci makes me want to run out and purchase the fragrance stat. See that is how I plan to get Blake to chat me up when we bump into each other one day. She will admire my great taste in scents and the rest will be history!

P.S. If you haven’t watched Savages yet, run out and watch it now. Blake and her co-stars Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, and Demián Bichir do an amazing job!

Steal My Look: Braided Updo from Premios Juventud

Dress: Rachel by Rachel Roy /Shoes: Brash Cosmic Platform c/o Payless

When Belleza Suave selected me to be one of the bloggers to represent them in a promotion during Premios Juventud, I had no idea exactly what I was in for. I never imagined that I would make some amazing friendships as well as have some of the most fun I’ve ever had!

We kicked off the celebration at Barceloneta (1400 20th Street Miami Beach, FL 33139), a South Beach tapas restaurant where I got better acquainted with fellow bloggers Delmy Reyes from Fashion Bananas and Gabriela Natale from Super Latina Tv, the Belleza Suave Team, and celebrity stylist Leonardo Rocco of Rocco Donna Salon (101 Ocean Drive Miami Beach, FL 33139).

Our night ended quite early since we all needed to be up by 5:00 am to head over to Univision Studios where we participated in a segment on Despierta America. Leo used Delmy, Gabriela and I as models to show off the trends he predicted to be hot on the blue carpet at Premios Juventud later that night.

My hairstyle was pretty amazing, especially how Leo put the top bun together with a sock! The final version I ended up wearing to the award show however was created sans sock. Find out how you can imitate this look at home with a step-by-step guide below:

1. Flip all of your hair downward. Then, French-braid the middle section beginning at the neck going all the way up to ear level. French braiding is similar to normal braiding except you have to keep adding hair as you go along braiding.
2. Secure hair in a high ponytail and separate it into 4 different sections to begin creating the bun.
3. To give it the long-lasting hold needed, spray a bit of Suave’s Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray on each section and start to roll the hair down from tips to middle and secure it with bobby pins – follow this same process with the other ponytail sections until it begins to form a big bun.
4. Finish off the hairstyle by securing it with additional bobby pins and spray a bit more of hairspray to give it the final touch.

And while I can’t confirm that our hair is what scored Delmy and I a chat with Premios Juventud host Wilmer Valderrama, I bet it helped!

Steal My Beauty Look: Francia Raisa at Teen Choice Awards

With Latina’s heating up “best dressed lists” all over the web, I’ve got some juicy scoop on how you can re-create one of my favorite Teen Choice Award looks! The Secret Life of the American Teenager star Francia Raisa looked flawless in a short Armani dress as she posed on the pink carpet with besties JoJo and Selena Gomez at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

I spoke to celebrity stylist Etienne Ortega, who worked his magical fingers on the Latina’s hair and make-up for the awards, and he gave us the play-by-play so that you can re-create the look at home! One of my favorite things about the details is that Etienne uses a variety of products, as I’m sure many of you ladies also do at home.

The other thing I loved was that he considered Francia’s age when deciding on her look. I can’t express how important “age appropriateness” is when wardrobe, hair, AND make-up are concerned.

But of course Ortega, who has worked with stars like Eva Longoria, Karina Smirnoff, Fernanda Romero, Joanna Krupa and Aubrey O’Day (to name a few!), knew what he is doing! He chose this look specifically for Francia since she enjoys leaving her hair loose when out on the town.

Inspiration:

“I found inspiration for Francia’s hair and make-up from her beautiful Armani dress,” Etienne said. “I kept her look a bit futuristic while keeping it fun and fresh, perfect for the Teen Choice Awards. It reminded me, as an artist, how to have fun!”

Make-Up Technique:

-With the weather in California keeping quite warm during the day, I started off by using Embryolisse Moisturizer to keep her skin hydrated.
-Next I applied MAC brow pencil in “Lingering” and Mac Brow Gel in “Beguile” to her perfectly arched brows.
-Since Francia was in for a long night, I primed her eyes with MAC “Painterly” to extend the life of the shadow which included purples and blues such as MAC’s “Parfait Amour,” “Deep Truth” and a touch of “texture” on the crease and “mylar” on the lid.
-I used one of my favorite foundations– Make Up Forever HD on her skin followed by Kryolan Concealer which I set with Laura Mercier’s under eye setting powder. This kept the 23-year-old looking fresh-faced and flawless for hours!
-Want to score Francia’s glow? Grab CoverGirl’s “classic pink” blush and Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion.
-To kick-up the volume of her eyes, I applied Ardell indivudual lashes with a heavy coat of L’Oreal Voluminous “carbon black” on top and bottom lashes.
- I finished her look with Smashbox “soft nude” lip liner followed by Smashbox “infinite” long wear lipgloss.

Hair Technique:
Francia has great cheek bones and I wanted to show them off with a funky, retro hairstyle!

-I washed and pre-dried her hair before working in some Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam. I used the blow dryer again to ensure her hair was fully dry and then ran a hair iron through her strands.
-I slicked up her hair into a pony tail with a hint of Crew Pomade mixed with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny.
-I kept the crown section out, used a hot tools 1 1/4 curling iron to put some wake into the hair then I set it into place backcombing and brushing her look into place.
-To finish her look, I set the hair with Paul Mitchell Extra Body Finishing Spray.

Will this look work for you?

Etienne says anyone can rock this look when you’re feeling more on the artsy playful side.
