Joey McIntyre and Justin Chambers run half marathon for charity

The streets of Pasadena were full of good-hearted people including actor/singer Joey McIntyre and Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers yesterday. The duo, who were also joined by Justin’s co-stars Chandra Wilson and Kim Raver, and actress Kristin Renton, showed up bright and early for the inaugural “Rock n’ Roll Marathon Pasadena” held at the Rose Bowl on Sunday, February 19th, 2012.

The half marathon was created to raise awareness and funds for Cure Mito, a charity that works to fund the research and treatment of mitochondrial disease.

“Cure Mito was my biggest inspiration, which definitely is what got me out here, supporting Chandra and her daughter Sarina. I think when you have something that you are running for, it really keeps you going and you want to make a difference for those kids,” said Raver, who plays Dr. Teddy Altman on Grey’s Anatomy and finished her first half-marathon in 2:02:35. “Cure Mito is an amazing organization and I am so happy to be here in support of Chandra, she is such a team player on the set of Grey’s. It was really emotional crossing the finish line and the music on the course was awesome.”

New Kids on the Block fans will be proud to hear our boy Joey finished the 13.1 mile race in 1:53:40.

The event attracted more than 7,000 entrants who began the race in front of the iconic Rose Bowl façade, running across the Colorado Bridge, through Old Town Pasadena, around the Brookside Golf Course, enjoying the sights of numerous scenic landmarks, including the Tournament House and the Norton Simon Museum. The event concluded with a finish line festival at the Rose Bowl with a post-race concert headlined by Sugar Ray.

Miami Food Trucks ‘Breakfast Challenge” winner is…….

To anyone who says they can’t find anything fun to do in Miami that doesn’t include a trip to a South Beach nightclub is dead wrong! The party was hopping last night at Tobacco Road where the famous Miami Food Trucks lined up to welcome foodies from as far away as Port Saint Lucie.

Sef from Burger Beast hosted a fun “Breakfast Challenge” where judges tasted samplings from all the trucks before crowning one lucky winner. As one of the honored judges, I will tell you this is a very difficult process. The more I sit in as a judge at these fabulous food events I’m learning the tricks of the trade…ie. don’t eat more than a bite or two or you will not make it through the contest!

I walked into the event with an open mind, even though I don’t count myself as a “breakfast” fan. My favorite meals are normally lunch or dinner, but I will say I left with many new ideas when creating the “most important meal of the day” from home.

Every single participant should have taken home a special badge for originality. No two dishes were alike though many breakfast staples were incorporated like bacon and eggs.

But since there could only be one winner, the truck with the most votes was Purple People Eatery who made these small waffle sandwiches that featured honey maple ham, a quail egg, scallions and blueberry syrup. YUMMY!

To work off all the calories I took in, I walked around with friends to check out the different trucks and to visit my fellow judge Jack at the Patio Bar located inside Tobacco Road. After 30 years of employment at this South Florida institution, you can bet I heard some pretty amazing stories!

The ones about Colin Farrell during his time shooting Miami Vice will have to remain a secret, but Jack did tell me what the reformed bad boy enjoyed nibbling on during his frequent visits. His go to menu item was, the Cowboy Burger! It has cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and is smothered in bbq sauce.

YUM!

I also heard stories about hunk Lenny Kravitz! I can’t tell you the one that features 5 Russian models, but I can tell you he loves the “Death Burger.” This one features pepper jack cheese and a special blend of sauteed onions and jalapeños they call, “Death Love.”

To find out where you can experience the food trucks yourself, go to their official website here. And for details on Tobacco Road, check out their website here. You never know who will be stopping by!

Manolo Blahnik launches Spring/Summer Collection at Saks Bal Harbour

It’s amazing how one minute a girl can be watching Sex and the City and drooling over the same shoes as her hero and the next minute, interviewing the president of the brand!

Manolo Blahnik launched their 2012 Spring/Summer line at Saks Fifth Avenue– Bal Harbour last week and yours truly had the pleasure to attend the fabulous event. Shoppers gazed upon shoe…after glorious shoe in the presence of George Malkemus, president of Manolo Blahnik while sipping champagne and indulging on some of the tastiest treats that I’ve had in a long time.

Let me just say, you will not meet a nicer, more humble individual than Mr. Malkemus. He shared so many amazing stories about my idol Sarah Jessica Parker as well as stories about some of the most hardcore Manolo fans in the world!

Check out my video below which features some of my journalistic heroes including Shireen Sandoval, host of Deco Drive and Lisa Petrillo from CBS 4.

Don’t forget to stop by Saks Fifth Avenue located at the Bal Harbour Shops to see the full line of Manolo Blahnik shoes today!

Madonna leads the star-studded premiere of W.E. in NYC

Her royal Madge-sty Madonna lead the charge at The Weinstein Company with The Cinema Society & Forevermark premiere of ‘W.E.’ held at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday, January 23rd, 2012 in New York City. Just because there was snow on the sidewalks doesn’t mean Hollywood’s finest would be bundling up for such a star-studded event!

Spotted on the red carpet were lead actors from the film Andrea Riseborough and James D’Arcy alongside co-star Oscar Isaac. Andrea has become the Material Girls’ new BFF, the two were inseparable at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month!

Much to my delight, four of my favorite designers stepped out on this chilly evening to toast the romantic drama focusing on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson. They include Diane Von Furstenberg, Rachel Roy, Donna Karan, and Zac Posen who had the beautiful Crystal Renn on his arm.

But wait…that’s not all! I know I haven’t spoken enough about Spartacus: Vengeance yet so here are some stunning photos of Liam McIntyre and Lucy Lawless who embraced the cold in a sleeveless dress.

There are even a couple of shots of Ewan McGregor and Irina Shayk in the bunch! (phew…I think that covers EVERYONE!)

The Oscar nominations are out tomorrow, do you think W.E. will score any nods?

Santigold rocked the house at Absolut’s Miami Launch Party

There is a reason Miami is known as The Magic City! Not only do we know how to party but we have some of the most breathtaking locations and warm temperatures you won’t see anywhere else this time of year!

Absolut Vodka celebrated the launch of their sixth limited edition, city-inspired flavor—ABSOLUT MIAMI at the Fontainebleau Hotel on South Beach last week. Headlining the event was singer/songwriter Santigold who entertained the excited crowd with her high energy and popular hits.

Speaking of the crowd, do you guys know that one of my favorite artists of all time was in attendance?!  Yep, Taylor Dayne was in the house jammin’ to the bumpin’ beat!

I wish I could have taken you all with me so that you could have seen the crazy bars Absolut set-up throughout the hotel’s outdoor garden area! They had drinks flowing all night including three signature cocktails: Absolut® Miami Mojito, Absolut® Miami South Beach Breeze, and the Absolut® Miami Sizzle.

Absolut Miami features a citrus combination inspired by the Sunshine State – passion fruit and orange blossom. My favorite cocktail of the night was the South Beach Breeze.

To make this at home all you need is:

2 PARTS ABSOLUT MIAMI
1.5 PARTS FRESH ORANGE JUICE
1.5 PARTS FRESH PINEAPPLE JUICE

Build over ice in a highball glass and stir. Garnish with a pineapple spear and lime wedge.

Absolut Miami is on sale throughout the United States, grab yours before they are all gone!

Robert Redford honored by YoungArts in Miami

I had the amazing honor to attend An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala where YoungArts honored actor Robert Redford with the Arison Award on Saturday, January 14th, 2012. To date, this was one of the most glamourous events that I have ever attended!

The gala, held at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and the J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel, brought together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities to celebrate the 2012 national YoungArts winners.

“YoungArts takes great pride in its legacy of discovering excellence in the arts and cultivating our nation’s best young artists,” says Paul T. Lehr, NFAA’s Executive Director. “The gala celebrates the accomplishments achieved by our alumni family and the achievements of three individuals who are making significant and meaningful contributions to the arts.”

During the cocktail hour, I had the pleasure to chat up Debi Mazar about fashion and her cooking show Extra Virgin on the Cooking Network. She excitedly talked about the project which co-stars her Italian husband, Gabriele Corcos.

Click here to learn more about the show, watch past episodes and find out when it airs in your area.

I danced the night away in one of the gorgeous ballrooms at the J.W. Marriott Marquis after a delicious dinner and cocktails sponsored by Grey Goose. I was addicted to their cocktail named, La Poire Frenchy a fruity combination of pineapple, cranberry, and vodka!

The YoungArts program has honored over 16,000 young artists with more than $6 million in monetary awards and nearly $84 million in college scholarship opportunities. Alumni include actresses Vanessa Williams and Kerry Washington, four-time Tony Award nominee Raúl Esparza, Executive Director of American Ballet Theatre Rachel Moore, recording artists Nicki Minaj and Chris Young, musician Jennifer Koh, choreographer Desmond Richardson, and internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Doug Aitken.

Alexander Skarsgard suits up for Golden Globes after parties!

Just when you thought you had seen it all at the Golden Globes, in walks Alexander Skarsgard and makes me reconsider who the hottest man out and about last night was! The star of Straw Dogs and True Blood attended several high profile after parties including The Weinstein Company’s 2012 Golden Globe Awards After Party held at The Beverly Hilton hotel and HBO’s Post 2012 Golden Globe Awards Party at Circa 55 Restaurant.

Though he hit the red carpet solo, the sexy Swede was spotted with a mystery girl arriving at the Chateau Marmont! (a moment to allow for my shattering heart to recompose itself!) The woman bares a striking resemblance to Scarlett Johansson and Abbie Cornish, though I can assure you she is neither of the two.

For my fellow Alex fans, his new film Battleship is set to release on May 12th. Skarsgard in a military uniform? HECK YES!
