Amy Winehouse had alcohol but no drugs in system when she died

Amy Winehouse partied hard during her life, and while that may have been what claimed her life in the end, early toxicology reports claim there were no illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death. Her battles with both alcohol and narcotics were well documented by the media throughout her career, but her parents say during the end of her life she was trying to clean up.

Here is the statement released via TMZ:

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death.”

The statement continues, “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”

“The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”

Amy was found dead in her Camden apartment exactly one month ago today by a security guard who thought she was asleep. She was only 27-years-old.

Breaking News: Amy Winehouse found dead

News is breaking around the world that British singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her Camden home in what seems to be a drug overdose. While the facts are not surprising, I must admit that I had always hoped the troubled singer would get the help needed to make a healthy comeback.

Due to privacy laws in the England, police have not confirmed that the body that was found was that of Winehouse but their statement and location of the home all but does it for us.

“Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

It is unknown if Amy’s dad has been told of his daughters demise as he was traveling to a jazz festival in New York.

Amy recently hit the road as part of a European tour that was cancelled after an array of erratic performances most recently in Serbia.

Like Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Jimi Hendrix, another young talent cut unnecessarily short. All died at aged 27.

Very sad news….we hope Amy can now finally rest in peace.
