Blu-Ray/DVD Release: Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks star in “People Like Us”

After Sam (Chris Pine) loses his father to cancer, he must face the reality that he has a sister he never knew about. Frankie (Elizabeth Banks) has been carrying around the pain and hurt of rejection after her father abandoned her and her mother when she was a little girl. Yes Sam and Frankie are siblings, but the situation proved to be more complex than expected  in the recent Blu-Ray/DVD release People Like Us.

The dramatic film was based on director Alex Kurtzman’s real life encounter at the age of thirty with a sister he never knew existed!

Both Pine and Banks play the roles of damaged human beings, thanks to the rejections of their father, perfectly. They are kindered spirits who are able to begin the healing process and become better people for the betterment of themselves and the benefit of their nephew and son (respectively) Josh (Michael Hall D’Addario) now that they have found each other.

Michelle Pfeiffer gave an outstanding performance as Sam’s mother who is forced to admit secrets and accept painful truths from the past.

The only relationship that I didn’t really get into was between Sam and his girlfriend Hannah (Olivia Wilde). It wasn’t that her performance was bad but it almost seemed like her presence was an afterthought. With all the plot evolving around them, I’m not sure that she was really necessary.

Overall it was a film that gave an honest depiction of a family brought together after a tragedy and shows messy real life can be.

Enjoy the battle from home! Reese Witherspoon picks between Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in “This Means War”

Could you think of a more difficult task than choosing between Tom Hardy and Chris Pine? Reese Witherspoon had this very task in the action/romantic comedy This Means War which hits stores on DVD and Blu Ray on Tuesday, May 22nd.

I had the chance to review a copy last night and can assure you that the movie has all the elements of a fun spy dramedy and those of a romantic comedy that can appeal to both men and women alike. Even though you can work out how the movie will end pretty early on, the battle is extremely enjoyable to watch!

In the McG directed film, you meet Tuck (Tom Hardy) and FDR (Chris Pine)– CIA agents who are also best friends. Tuck is divorced with a son whom he’s not close to and Frank is a ladies man. Tuck decides to re-enter the dating world so he places his profile on to dating website.

Lauren, whose best friend Trish (Chelsea Handler) has added provocative photos and details to the same dating site, sees Tuck’s profile and goes on a date with him. She later bumps into Frank around the corner at a video store and he hits on her but she doesn’t really think he is her type.

She’s intrigued by both of them and decides to date them both and see who she likes better! When they learn that they’re dating the same girl, they agree to let her choose.

But both can’t help but use their skills to keep tabs on her and each other. And also sabotage each others dates with her.

How will it end? Who will she choose? Pick up your copy of This Means War tomorrow on DVD or Blu Ray! And if you need some tips on what to consider when choosing a guy, check out this fun Top Ten List with tips on what to look for in that perfect match.

Chris Pine and Tom Hardy premiere ‘This Means War’ in London

There is so much hotness going on in these images that I’m surprised it has not overheated my laptop! Chris Pine and Tom Hardy attended the UK premiere of This Means War held at the Odeon Kensington on Monday, January 30th, 2012 in London, England.

Joining the boys was co-star Reese Witherspoon who looked stunning in a short black & green sequined dress and a pair of black pumps. Directo McG posed with his all-cast on the red carpet ahead of its February 14th release.

The action comedy follows two of the world’s deadliest CIA operatives who are inseparable partners and best friends – until they discover that they’ve fallen in love with the same woman. Deciding to keep their friendship a secret from her, they pull out their full arsenal of fighting skills and high-tech gadgetry to defeat their greatest enemy – each other.

Its about time someone combined fun, sexy, and thrilling into one film! Check out the trailer below.
