First Look: EW’s ‘The Hobbit’ Cover

In “this is awesome” news, Entertainment Weekly just released its sneak peak of their latest cover featuring characters Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins (played by Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman) in the much anticipated two-part film series The Hobbit.

The films will follow Bilbo Baggins, uncle to Frodo Baggins (played by Elijah Wood), on his adventures throughout Middle Earth and his eventual discovery of The One Ring. Wait, is it considered a spoiler if you’ve already seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

Anywho, McKellen and Freeman look positively vitalized as they breathe new life into the film franchise which has been under the radar for the last eight years, due to the last film Return of the King being released in 2003.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set to be released on December 14th of this year. The Hobbit: There and Back Again is slated for a December 13th release of next year. We will see the return of favorites such as  Frodo Baggins, Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom), Gollum (played by Andy Serkis), and Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett).  Meanwhile this issue of EW hits stands Tuesday, July 3rd.
