Hot trends from the MET Gala at prices you can afford!

In what is being called the Superbowl or Olympics of the fashion world, the ‘Schiaparelli And Prada: Impossible Conversations’ Costume Institute Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was held on May 7th, 2012 in New York City. Some of the hottest names from the world of cinema, television, fashion and even sports stepped out in ensembles that will set the trends for months to come!

She was named the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” by People Magazine earlier this year, and Beyonce Knowles proved to the world how she earned that title on the red carpet last night. The 30-year-old wore a very revealing, body hugging Givenchy couture gown which featured black lace and a trim of purple feathers.

Others rocking the feather trend were Diane Kruger (in Prada), Kate Bosworth (in Prada), and Cate Blanchett (in Alexander McQueen). These dresses easily cost thousands of dollars but we found three options that will cost you well under $1,000. They are from Alice + Olivia, Theory, and Rare Opulence.

Feather Dresses

Jessica Alba and Cameron Diaz were golden girls at the gala showing off the biggest trend of the event–mettalics! Alba wore a one-shoulder Michael Kors gown while Ms. Diaz wore a Stella McCartney dress that reportedly weighed over 30 pounds!

Another big trendsetter of the night was Camilla Belle who not only wore a Ralph Lauren gown that commanded jaws to hit the floor but also a dark wine lip color that was echoed by Lana Del Rey, Leighton Meester, and the aforementioned Bosworth.

Here are some affordable-yet-sparkly gowns for your next party or event. There are two from Aidan Mattox and one from J. Crew.

To achieve the dark lip, try L’Oreal’s Infallible Le Rouge in Bold Bordeaux ($9.95).

Peplum and various shades of bright orange are two trends that have been going on strong for some time now. Pantene spokesperson Eva Mendes decided the occasion was worthy of wearing both trends. As you can see from the photo above, Eva wore a tangerine Prada gown. I really love Eva but I wasn’t really feeling this dress on her. The color is fab but I don’t think the ensemble really did her body any favors.

Other beauties rockin’ peplum were Sofia Vergara, January Jones, and Elizabeth Banks.

Here are ways you can dip your toes into the peplum and/or orange pool without breaking the bank. You can even be like Eva and do both! Dresses are from Jessica Simpson, Cut 25, and Tracy Reese.

What were some of your favorite looks from last night?

Score romantic curls this Valentine’s Day with tips from Pantene

With Valentine’s Day only hours away, I wanted to share with you a special video produced by Pantene showing you how to get romantic waves that are sure to get your sweetie excited! Celebrity hairstylist Carlos Vera was on-hand for a special shoot in Miami last week where I was chosen as their special model for the video.

I am ever so grateful to Pantene for honoring me with such a fun project and to Carlos Vera for teaching me how to add body to my stick straight hair!

Carlos, whose magic hands have worked on Thalia and Shakira (to name a few), first washed my hair before adding products from their medium/thick collection. Here are the details about the products and technique used on me from the press release followed by the fabulous video.

Rosy’s look is inspired by the sexy and voluminous hair of our Pantene ambassador, actress Eva Mendes. Rosy is a smart woman with a lively personality and she has medium to thick hair which is the most common hair type among Latinas.

Start by washing hair with Pantene Normal to Thick Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner. Then, on hair still damp apply the Split End Repair Keratin Protection Crème to prevent split ends, followed by the Flowing Body Mousse to add body. After blow drying hair, use a curling iron to create waves and pin set each section. Once hair is completely pin set, use a diffuser’s heat to lock in more volume without touching the hair. Finally, remove all pins, and use a wide-tooth comb to loosen the waves.

Let me know if you like my final look!

Eva Mendes rocks Dolce and Gabbana on Marie Claire cover for March

Eva Mendes is featured on the cover of the March issue of Marie Claire….though it barely looks like her! Why on Earth they had to do so much Photoshop on her is beyond me, but she pretty much looks like a huge head on a disproportioned body.Good thing she is wearing this bejeweled Spring/Summer 2012 bustier from Dolce and Gabbana, it’s absolutely stunning on her! Well at least the body parts in the image that actually belong to her.Sorry but I doubt her arms are that thin….and her hair looks like it was pasted on as an afterthought.  I would love to a see a copy of the original image that was shot for this just to compare what was edited.

Thanks Marie Claire for featuring my girl Eva on the cover, but next time don’t edit her so much!

Sneak Peek Trailer: Eva Mendes in ‘Girl in Progress’

What better way to kick-off Monday than with a new sneak peek trailer from for the Eva Mendes dramedy, Girl In Progress?! The Latina beauty stars as Grace, a single mom who is too busy juggling work, bills, and her married lover Dr. Hartford (Matthew Modine), to give her daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) the attention she desperately needs.

When Ansiedad’s English teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette), introduces her students to classic coming-of-age stories, Ansiedad is inspired to skip adolescence and jump-start her life without mom. While Grace becomes preoccupied with the increasing affections of her co-worker (Eugenio Derbez), Ansiedad enlists the help of her loyal friend, Tavita (Raini Rodriguez), to plot her shortcut to “adulthood”. But as her misguided plan unravels, Ansiedad and Grace must learn that sometimes growing-up means acting your age.

We keep hearing amazing things about 16-year-old Cierra, who is making her feature film debut alongside Mendes, so keep your eyes on her!

Girl in Progress hits theaters on April 27th, 2012.

Eva Mendes vamps it up on set of “Holly Motors”

If you have been reading AccidentalSexiness.com for long enough, you know about my slight obsession with Eva Mendes. Let these photos serve as proof to the world just how fabulous she really is!!

The divalicious Latina was spotted on the set of her latest film Holly Motors rockin’ some long, red hair and sultry eye makeup at Pere Lachaise Cemetery on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011. Also photographed was her co-star Denis Lavant who was wearing a very leprechaun-ish ensemble.

But let’s talk more about Eva! Yeah her hair might remind you a bit of Amy Winehouse but it looks absolutely stunning on her!! Check out her va-va-va-voom costume below:

The gold cover-up and the giraffe print Snuggie are not part of her costume but are meant to hide the long dress with the long slit up her thigh shown above.

We still don’t know anything about her character in the film but you can bet she will knock your socks off when it hits the big screen!

Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara and Eva Mendes: 3 stylish chicas take on Europe

I feel bad for the folks in Europe who had no warning that these three Latina bombshells would hit their shores at the same time! Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, and Eva Mendes were all spotted across the continent on Monday, November 21st, 2011.

Mexican beauty Salma Hayek was photographed as she departed from the Hotel George V in Paris, France while en route to a press conference in support of her latest film, Puss in Boots. She looked beautiful in a matching skirt and blouse ensemble with a black camisole underneath.

Sofia Vergara smiled pretty for photographers upon her arrival at ITV studios in London, England this morning. She is also promoting a new animated movie, Happy Feet Two.

Even though temperatures are a bit chilly across the pond, this Colombian beauty was rocking a dress, stockings, and sky high heels!

Eva Mendes kept a much lower profile hiding behind an umbrella on the set of her latest movie, Leos Carax’s Holly Motors, at Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. Though details about her character are non-existant, we do know the film tells the story of a man who travels between different versions of his life, which see him cast as a murderer, beggar, CEO, monstrous creature and family man.

Mendes, along with pop singer Kylie Minogue, will star as people from his past.

Looking good chicas!
