Romy and Root unite on Fringe

Real life lovebirds Stephen Root and Romy Rosemont will play a married couple in an upcoming episode of Fringe this fall. No word yet which universe the two will inhabit but I have no doubt it will be trippy and weird because this is Fringe we are talking about. Root was most recently seen Justified as Judge Mike Reardon but is probably best known as Milton from Office Space. Rosemont currently appears periodically on Glee as Finn Hudson’s mother Carole. This is the first time the couple have appeared together on screen. Let’s just hope that Walter (John Noble) didn’t lose Stephen’s stapler.

Fringe returns September 23rd to answer some pretty big questions, like WTF happened to Peter Bishop!

Glee Got the Beat!

Glee returns to our lives on Tuesday, September 20 and to make sure we are all excited and stuff they have released this peppy new promo featuring a New Directions version of the Go-Gos classic “We Got The Beat!” Check it out!

Fun huh? Slow motion dodge ball is awesome. Looks like Season 3 will be impossible to miss!

Glee does Fashion Night Out

I don’t pretend to know what Fashion Night Out is but the cast of Glee certainly does and to prove it they’ve done this flashy and fierce runway piece to promote it. Watch as our favorite group of high school misfits channel’s their inner diva to David Bowie’s hit “Fashion”.

Sadly Mercedes and Santana were not on hand to provide their own special brand of fierceness to this video, but Blaine (Darren Criss) and Quinn (Dianna Agron) were there to save the day. No surprise that I’m diggin on Puck‘s glam rocker vibe And how cute is Kevin McHale? As for the song, well it isn’t their best effort. Best to leave the Bowie to Bowie.

Glee Sing-A-Long brings out the stars

Glee fans and cast members converged on a high school in Santa Monica this past Monday August 15th for a Glee Sing-A-Long event that appears to have been quite awesome. Musical numbers from the second season were screened for 2,000 Academy of Television Arts & Sciences members and fan and fellow gleeks Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Harry Shum Jr, Kristin Chenoweth, Mike O’Malley and Dot Marie Jones were on hand to help out. Looks like Coach Bieste was having some fun with tiny April Rhodes.

Check out the photos below.

Glee 3D assaults our senses with Gleekness.

So I finally got around to seeing Glee: The 3D Concert Movie tonight. Yeah I know it has been out  for like five whole days and I should have been there opening night with my Warbler blazer on screaming “OHMIGOD BLAIIINNNNNE” but you know I’m old and life gets in the way sometimes. Plus I don’t own a Warbler blazer…yet. But I will be getting one because Blaine (Darren Criss) is one hundred kinds of awesome, so much so that I could have easily watched 2 hours of him singing passages from Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue. Maybe he’ll get a spinoff or something. Kidding.

The movie was great fun! I mean it is what it is…almost 2 hours of Gleeky goodness mixed in with footage of a select few fans for whom Glee has meant something extra super special. If you enjoy the show at all then you’ll enjoy the film. I thought there would be more non-music stuff with the cast but I can see why they went the “Glee is saving the world” route. I did miss seeing Coach Sylvester and Mr. Schue…who I thought would do something for the film…but oh well. Most of the behind the scenes stuff centered around Rachel, Artie, Puck and Blaine with some Britney and Santana thrown in here and there. The rest of them got very little screen time off the stage, but this was about the music after all.

I can’t say I agree with all the song choices though. The obligatory hits were there but instead of throwing in one of the big showy Gaga or Madonna numbers they chose “Valerie” and “Sing”, both of which I like to pretend never existed. Aside from those bumps in the road the crowd pleasers were very pleasing indeed, including Holly Holiday’s (Gwyneth Paltrow) surprise number “Forget You”.

Glee 3D is only around for another week so if you are at all interested get out and see it soon. Just to wet your appetite, check out this clip of Blaine and the Warblers that has been blowing up the Youtube this week.

Guess who’s graduating from Glee?

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has said many times that the kids of McKinley High would move on and graduate just like in real life but I don’t think we really thought about what that would mean. Now we are getting a dose of the cold, hard reality as we learn that the big three; Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele will be part of the Class of 2013 and heading off to college (or New York) at the end of season 4!

Colfer, Michele and Monteith are “not going to be back at all for Season 4,” Murphy said. “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”

According to Murphy more people will be leaving than staying at the end of next season so prepare for lots of songs about the real world and college and saying goodbye. Also look for a lot more screen time for the parents as talk of post-Glee plans kicks into high gear. Clearly Rachel (Lea Michele) will be headed for New York to stage her one woman show about her headband collection and I hope that this means we will finally get to meet her two gay dads. I vote for John Barrowman and Sean Hayes as her perky stage parents. Kurt (Chris Colfer) won’t be too far behind as he seeks to revive “Mame” and I can totally see them rooming together in a dingy studio apartment off-off Broadway. It’s anybodys guess where Finn (Cory Monteith) will end up.

What will we do without Kurt, Rachel and Finn? Chris Colfer kind of ran away with the show last year with his amazing portrayal of Kurt and I think the show will suffer a bit without it. I hope they bring on some amazing new folks next year to counterbalance this. Out with the old, in with the new! Class of 2013….really, am I that old?

Glee Bloopers are Better than Rainbows

Check out this hilarious collection of bloopers from the set of Glee as the cast attempts to tape some behind-the-scenes interviews. Based on what we see here, I think Chord Overstreet should get to show off his impression skills on the show. He’s really good. Jayma Mays has some fun with proper narrative form and Mark Salling busts some sweet dance moves. What more reason do you need? Hit the cut to watch. Would a Glee blooper be called a glooper?
