Jackson Rathbone’s “Girlfriend” revealed

JR2

Twilight‘s Jackson Rathbone just finished filming a new movie, Girlfriend. Up until recently, very little was being said about the plot, but MTV caught up with the direct, Justin Lerner, and got us a few details.

The big secret they’ve been hiding is Evan Grey, the film’s main character. Evan is a young man with down syndrome in search of love. The object of his affection is single mom Candy, played by Shannon Woodward, whom he’s loved since high school. Candy is in a waning relationship with Russ (Rathbone), and has a friendship with Evan. Evan doesn’t quite understand the concept of a girlfriend, creating an awkward love triangle.

Evan Sneider not only plays the main character, but he was the inspiration for the film as well. After bumping into Evan while visiting his hometown, Justin thought he would be an excellent premise for a film. He had the following to say on his idea for the film:

We’re in an economic crisis, and [the film is set] in a small town where there’s lots of lying, deceit, jealousy, rage, violence. Evan is pure good. He’s pure innocent love. How fascinating would it be to put pure, innocent, unconditional love […] into this world, and see what happens.

This is definitely going to be a heartfelt film, and probably a tear jerker too. As of now, there is no specific release date, but the film should come out sometime next year (2010). Plenty of time to get the box of tissues ready.

The cast of the Twilight Saga: New Moon were spotted in costume and on set in Vancouver, Canada yesterday. The stars include Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Kristen Stewart, and Nikki Reed.

Ashley Greene recently confessed in an interview she is living a fairytale even though sometimes she struggles with her new lifestyle.

I’m still getting used to the go, go, go Hollywood lifestyle which has definitely thrown me into a realm where I’m struggling a little bit,” says Greene, who was a fan of the books long before she auditioned for the role of Alice.

“As an actor you want people to know you and there are times you want your pictures taken, but it’s unnerving to walk out of a venue with friends and there are 20 people flashing lights in your face. Do you know how bright those lights are?”

She also confirms the crush she shares with her on-screen husbands Jackson Rathbone. She says the rumors of them dating are not true though the only thing keeping them apart is their hectic schedules.

He and I both don’t have time to date, but we do have amazing chemistry,” she says.

“We both have such big crushes on each other and it clearly shows. We got along instantly and the day we met, he was teaching me how to swing dance.

“He (Rathbone) does everything. He sings, he dances, and he’s so sweet. Even my mum has a crush on him and tells me, ‘You should date him’. So, who knows, maybe when we both stop running around the world.”
