It is indeed a rare thing when a network television show shocks me into silence. Such was the case with last night’s episode of Fringe which I watched during one of Georgia’s typical spring thunderstorms. The storm did pose some problems though. I missed the pre-title sequence due to a sketchy satellite signal and had to listen to the tornado sirens outside during most of it. Thankfully the power stayed on and I was able to see this wonderful hour of television. I get a bit spoilery and fanboyish and long winded here so don’t hit the cut if you prefer your TV viewing to be a virginal experience.
After two weeks of declining ratings Joshua Jackson used his infectious smile and charm to convince fans to tune in to Fringe this week and they did. The ratings bumped up a bit…ever so slightly…and fans were treated to a solid episode that finds Olivia, Peter and Walter investigating spooky goings on at an old apartment building in Brooklyn where six people have mysteriously fallen to their deaths.

Now that the winter break is over the writers at Camp Fringe are busy assembling the pieces for the war between dimensions. Last week they gave us a peek into the motives of The Observers, who I just learned have actual names. This week the action kicked into high gear when the team visited the now complete doomsday device for the first time.
Fortuna has indeed smiled upon Fringe fans this week. Last night’s episode “Marionette” was one of the best this season. They managed to give us one of the creepiest and most riveting case episodes while at the same time exploring Olivia’s difficult transition back into her former life after two months on the other side.
