Conan tips the “Richter” scale on his way to L.A.!

NBC says Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien will be back together again on late-night TV.

Richter, who worked with O’Brien for seven years on NBC’s “Late Night,” will become the “Tonight” show announcer when O’Brien takes over from Jay Leno as host in June. NBC said Richter also will take part in comedy bits.

@NY Daily News

This is good news and sad news. The great part is that Andy Richter will certainly add another character to an already hilarious show. Andy was usually the butt of many Conan bits, and Conan will certainly take advantage of that once more. On the other hand, this means that Joel Goddard (his current/previous announcer) who was equally if not more hilarious and certainly creepier, won’t be taking the trip out west along with Max Weinberg and the MW7. I can’t wait for his first string of shows in L.A.!!

Princess Leia *hearts* the Masturbating Bear!

Late Night with Conan O’Brien is in its final string of shows preparing for its trip to the west coast to take over The Tonight Show, and it’s been a great opportunity to see some of his bits and sketches that I missed throughout the years. After almost 16 years that he’s been doing the show, I have to say that without a doubt, one of my favorite characters has been the Masturbating Bear. It’s simple, childishly perverted, and utterly hysterical. I can’t think of a better way for LNCOB to have possibly put this character to rest. I think it did the character justice, and like something you can’t get enough of, the possibility of it always coming back.

Is Meryl Streep ready to “Rock”?

On Tuesday, The New York Daily News claimed in its Gatecrasher column, that “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin had asked Streep to guest star on the hit NBC comedy at Sunday’s SAG awards. And, the story claimed, Streep had agreed.

If you’re any older than 25 than you might have an idea about the fact that Meryl Streep can actually be pretty funny! Then again, she could be just an incredibly well rounded actress, which I’m sure not many would debate. Her career has been on fire over the past few years, but I think an appearance on 30 Rock would certainly bring her even more so to the mainstream. Most of the movies she’s made lately have been chick flicks, so until a few weeks ago I hadn’t seen The Devil Wears Prada but I don’t think I’ll be subjected to Mamma Mia unless there’s some nookie as a reward afterwards. I honestly can’t wait to see Doubt but that’s mostly because of my appreciation of Philip Seymour Hoffman in just about any movie. Given 30 Rock‘s track record of guest stars, this wouldn’t surprise me as some figure-heads putting some feelers out there to see if it’ll work.
