FIRST LOOK: The Big “C” Season 2

Are there any of you out there that are still trying to get over the season finale of The Big C? After watching that scene where Adam (Gabriel Basso) walks into the garage and realizes how much his mother really loves him and he faces the fact that he could lose her, I can’t help but tear up just thinking about it.

But as you can tell by the photo above, Cathy Jamison (Laura Linney) is still going strong and she is as feisty as ever! Could her and estranged husband Paul (Oliver Platt) be heading towards a reconciliation?

Below is the first teaser for season two of the Showtime dramedy, which is set to debut Monday, June 27 at 10:30 P.M. ET/PT. Get your tissues ready folks, I have a feelings there is a bumpy and bittersweet road ahead of us.

“THE BIG C” PREVIEW: Season Finale

I was going to use one of the other pictures in the gallery as a teaser for the season finale of “The Big C,” but with all the trauma we have suffered after Marlene committed suicide last night I decided against it.

As we near the final episode of season one I can’t help but [Read more...]

REVIEW: The Big C – Episode 1.12 ‘Everything That Rises’

Cathy and The Bee Man

This episode starts off way too cheery. I live and breathe The Big C, so I know that this doesn’t bode well in the long run. You can just feel it. If you’ve already watched last night’s Episode 12, I pass a virtual tissue to you. If you have not already seen it…I pass you an entire box of virtual tissues.

Cathy awakens to a sound that, judging by the look on her face, she’s not familiar with. Why look, it’s Paul cleaning the floors! For about a split second, it almost looks as though [Read more...]

REVIEW: The Big C – Episode 1.11 ‘New Beginnings’

Excited Cathy

Did anyone else go into this episode nervous? I was really worried about how a lot of things that occurred last week would be addressed. Thankfully, this week’s episode is entitled “New Beginnings”, so we can pretend that a lot of stuff that occurred last week NEVER EVEN HAPPENED. That’s how I like my life, with a nice side helping of denial and forgiveness.

The episode begins in Cathy’s classroom. Paul drops by for a surprise visit. Admittedly [Read more...]

REVIEW: The Big C – Episode 1.10 ‘Divine Intervention’

We’re officially at 10 great episodes in a row of The Big C! And I can officially say that I care at least 10x as much about each of these characters and their situations as I did during the show’s pilot. Each episode has successfully roped me in a little deeper.

This week began at Cathy’s house. Adam comes sauntering into the kitchen asking for permission to go hangout with his friend Brent. My first thought is “didn’t hanging out with Brent last time result in a [Read more...]

PREVIEW: The Big C – Episode 1.10

We’ve got some goodies from Showtime in the form of previews of next week’s episode of The Big C! Entitled “Divine Intervention”, the new episode is giving us a peek at Cathy’s (Laura Linney) emotional and spiritual issues.

The first video features the return of Cathy’s hilarious friend Rebecca (played wonderfully by Cynthia Nixon) who is going toe-to-toe with Cathy about the state of their friendship, or the lack thereof. As a reminder, one of the [Read more...]

REVIEW: The Big C -1.09 ‘The Ecstasy and the Agony’

I think it’s appropriate to go ahead and get my loudly expressed “OMG!!” out of the way. Here goes: OMG!! That’s much better. Last night’s episode contained more tense moments than any episode that we’ve seen thus far!

It starts off with Cathy (Laura Linney) teaching Adam to drive. This is always a nightmare for any parent, but Cathy’s case is an exception. Her son is actually only 14, but she’s jumping the gun for good reason. After all, she [Read more...]
