
Fans of Beatles legend Paul McCartney have refused to sit at home to wait for tonights concert at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru to kick off. Crowds gathered in droves in front of the Miraflores Park Hotel on Sunday, May 8th, 2011 where the newly engaged star waved to crowds and proudly held a Peruvian flag above his head.
Can you tell I’m half Peruvian and terribly excited for the 45,000 people set to witness performances by McCartney as part of his “Up and Coming Tour?”
“I am very excited, I love the South American public, you love the music, so I’m very happy to play in Lima,” he told local media.
While in Lima, Sir Paul will be honored with the “Orden del Árbol de la Quina” Award by the Peruvian Ministry of Environment. He is being recognized for his never-ending dedication to protecting the environment.
He will also take home the Order El Sol del Peru, one of the highest honors from the country, for his contribution to the advancement of arts and humanities backstage before the show.
