Pirates of the Caribbean Adds French Model to Cast

The most recent news out of the fourth film in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is the addition of French model/actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey to play the beautiful mermaid, Syrena.

Astrid is cast in the role after Disney received a lot of buzz about the casting requirements. Several weeks ago London’s Sunday Times and the New York Post reported that the film franchise sent out a casting call for actresses who, among other things, “must have real breasts.” Interesting requirement, but I’m certainly not going to complain! I think it’s good that Hollywood is looking for someone a little more natural.

Other actors signed on to the film include:

-Johnny Depp, who plans to stay on as Captain Jack Sparrow as long as they keep making the films.
-Geoffrey Rush, reprising his role as Barbossa.
-Ian McShane, to introduce the character Blackbeard.
-Penelope Cruz, who will play daughter to Blackbeard and love interest to Jack Sparrow.

Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom will not be returning, but weren’t we a little tired of the Elizabeth/Will/Jack triangle anyway??

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 gets a date!

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is not only get a release date but also a full title!! Johnny Depp was dressed up in full Jack Sparrow attire when he sailed into the Disney D23 Expo in a pirate ship yesterday where they announced the new title, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which will arrive in theaters in the summer of 2011!

Though Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom have previously announced they have no interest in doing another installment of this franchise, Depp is confirmed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

I can’t wait to see this!!
