James Roday and Dule Hill kick off new season of Psych

Are the Psych-o’s and soon-to-be Psych-o’s ready for an all new season of pineapples, silly nicknames, and fabulous guest stars?! The Bromantic duo of James Roday and Dule Hill walked the green carpet at the “Psych” Season 6 premiere held at Ziegfeld Theatre on Thursday, October 6th, 2011 in New York City. Joining them at this fabulous event were co-stars Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, Corbin Bernsen and Timothy Omundson plus guest stars Phylicia Rashad and Ally Sheedy.

I had the pleasure to catch up with James and Dule earlier this week to talk about all the fun stuff coming up this season and what they have going on while they are on hiatus. They also talk about the HUGE guest stars making appearances including Joey Mcintyre from New Kids on the Block, Malcolm McDowell and William Shatner.

Poor Dule was suffering with a cold so we thank him especially for making the extra effort to talk to us. I hope you are feeling better!

So without further ado, here are some excerpts from our interview:

To kick off our chat, I had to make reference to the Psych-out that was released earlier this week showing James and Dule doing the pendulum dance with NKOTB’er Joe McIntyre! Yep, the guys had “The Right Stuff” and I wanted to know what the chances were that the remaining members of High Top Fade Out would ever team up with Jordan Knight, Donny Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and Jonathan Knight for a New Kids on the Block blow-out episode!

Dule Hill: It would be a fun Psych-Out. I don’t know if that’ll ever happen; that’s a lot to ask. I think we can maybe work it out where we can get some members of High Top Fade Out, our (Quarterblack), and a member of New Kids on the Block all in one season. I think we can make that happen this year.

For my fellow Block-heads, here are more details on the Joey Mac episode:

James Roday: That was our Superhero episode. There’s like a vigilante superhero like combing the streets of Santa Barbara, cleaning them up one bad guy at a time. And it may or may not be Joey, we don’t know.

When I asked you guys on Twitter what you wanted to know about the guys, @jvento wanted to know what James Roday would be doing during hiatus. While I did ask him, he preferred to give his co-star a shout-out and talk about his upcoming Broadway return!

James Roday: Well if Dule will allow me to sing his praises, he will be appearing on Broadway in New York, starting in December, in a play called Stick Fly opposite Mekhi Phifer and Ruben Santiago-Hudson and a trio of wonderfully rich Broadway stage actresses that everyone should make a point to circle in their calendars and get to New York to see the man on stage.

Dule Hill: It should be a good time. And it’s produced by Alicia Keys, who I just found out is doing the music for the play. So you know, even if we are terrible the music will be good.

Tune in to an all new season of Psych on Wednesday, October 12th at 10/9 central only on USA Network.

William Shatner will guest star on “Psych” this fall

It looks like William Shatner is going to take a small break from shooting those funny Priceline.com commercials to guest star on the USA hit comedy, Psych. Mr. Shatner, also known as the Priceline Negotiator and most iconically for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek series, will the play role of “Frank O’Hara,” the estranged father of Detective Juliet O’Hara (Maggie Lawson).

Here are the details straight from the USA Network:

Frank is a charming con man who wants to mend his broken relationship with his daughter.
But when the opportunity to pull off a dream con is presented to him, his decision to stay on the right side of the law becomes more complicated.

Shatner most recently starred on the now defunct CBS comedy $#*! My Dad Says which was cancelled after one season.

Who else would you like to see added to the season six guest list roster?

Psych goes back to Twin Peaks

I have never seen an episode of Pysch. I have nothing against the show really. It does star Dule Hill who played President Barlett’s assistant on The West Wing which was one of my all time favorite shows, but I’ve just never been that interested in it. Truth be told, once I get a hearty list of regular shows to watch I rarely pick up a new one because who has the time? But when I heard that this week’s episode was an homage to Twin Peaks I hastily set my DVR.

“Say zoinks!” Psych “In Plain Fright” review

Psych kicked off with our new-finally-official couple making their way to the holding cells for a little alone time. Because of Shawn (James Roday) outing Lassiter’s relationship with his previous partner, resulting in her being transferred from the department, their romance must be kept on the down low.

“No touching in the police station.”

She surprises him with two tickets for “Scare Fest” for the next night. The only problem? He already has plans to go with Gus (Dule Hill). Shawn tells her that he’d rather go with her –– but after some tears on his best friend’s part, he decides he can’t disappoint him.

Unfortunately, Shawn and Gus get more than they [Read more...]

Maggie Lawson showing a darker side to “Juliet O’Hara”

With the events of Psych season four’s finale, “Mr. Yin Presents,” took viewers on a wild ride though one of their most dramatic –- if not the darkest –– episode to date. It looks like season five will carry some of the fallout.

At last night’s Paley Center event, actress Maggie Lawson spoke to TV Guide Magazine that we’ll be seeing our usual made-of-sunshine Detective Juliet O’Hara coping with the trauma of being kidnapped and dangled over the edge of a clock tower last season.

Keeping in line with the more personal aspect of these character’s lives that season four provided, she promises that we’ll continue to see character development.

“I think we’re getting into characters and emotions and personalities a little bit more. “

Maggie’s natural brunette hair, that we normally only see during the show’s hiatus is even being kept to help set the tone, figuratively and literally speaking.
