Renee Zellweger and her famous British accent will be back in action on the big screen once again in the third installment as the beloved and corky, Bridget Jones.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Working Title Films, the production company responsible for the first two films, is moving forward with a third that has been in talks since 2009.
While no other details were leaked, Colin Firth aka Mark Darcy, spoke with EW while on the King’s Speech press tour last year, slipping some possible story lines that could involve pregnancy issues between Bridget and Darcy, sending her back in the direction of Hugh Grant’s jerky Daniel Cleaver. Let’s all pray that Ms. Jones doesn’t let dirty Clever fool her once again!
Despite rumors of a third book being non existent, the London Evening Standard reported earlier this year that author Helen Fielding had begun writing the third of the best-selling novels, mentioning that there had been discussions about the film, and according to E! Online’s Marc Malkin, Fielding said she’s also working on a script when they spoke back in May.
While many sequels and even prequels are frowned upon from the get-go, I am quite excited to hear this news. The first film brought in $281 million in international sales and the second installment even raked in $262 million worldwide, despite disapproving reviews by critics.
Jones’ character is secretly inside every woman and who wouldn’t want to see her clumsy journey through love and life once more? Bring on the granny panties and ice cream!
