Robert Downey Jr. returns for Iron Man 2

fp_2075821_downeyjr_robert_fp_040609On the heels of his 44th birthday, actor Robert Downer Jr. heads into work to begin filming the sequel to last years hit, Iron Man.  RDJ has already promised that Iron Man 2 will be centering on the title character more for the storyline.

He told Entertainment Tonight, “The film is almost entirely about character, and yet we still have twice as much action as we did last time, so it’s going to be nuts.”

“Essentially ‘Iron Man 2′ is about looking behind the armor, or the armature, of a superhero. It’s one thing to say you’re Iron Man, it’s another thing to be fully ready to do that.”

“Iron Man 2″ will also star Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson Don Cheadle & Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. It will be released on May 7, 2010.

Rourke and Johannson go Russian for Iron Man 2

ironman2_t350

DeadlineHollywoodDaily has confirmed the casting of Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johannson in the upcoming “Iron Man” sequel, which is set to hit theaters on May 7th, 2010.

It has not been verified yet, but it seems that Rourke will end up playing the Russian villain Crimson Dynamo. Regarding Johannson, she has now officially replaced Emily Blunt as the Russian super spy Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow).

@ Worst Previews

This truly blows up the star power for this incredibly-anticipated sequel. Personally, I’ve been waiting for it the minute I finished watching Iron Man last year at the theater. I’m not sure how much weight Mickey Rourke carries with the audience for a movie like Iron Man 2, but I would watch Scarlett Johannson watching paint dry (preferably with a minimal amount of clothing). Don’t forget that little teaser that was snuck in the back of the credits with badass Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Needless to say, this is one to watch opening day.

BAFTA Recap

As expected, “Slumdog Millionaire” cleaned up at the Bafta Awards this evening.  The Danny Boyle hit took home 7 awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Music, Best Cinemotography, Best Editing, and Best Sound.

Other big winners tonight were Kate Winslet who won the Best Actress BAFTA for her role in the film, “The Reader,” Mickey Rourke won the Best Actor BAFTA for his role in “The Wrestler,” Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role of the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” and Penelope Cruz took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the Woody Allen film, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

The list of winners seems to be same at all the awards shows lately, so should we expect to see similar winning during the upcoming Oscars?

Sherlock Holmes goes to Brooklyn!

Wow it looks like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have gotten in a bit of a scuffle!

Filming for the upcoming Guy Ritchie flick, “Sherlock Holmes” took over Brooklyn today. Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams were all spotted on set today.  Were these two fighting for Rachel?

I read a story recently about a talent scout hiring homeless man Raymond Emanuel for a bit of extra work in this latest Holmes flick after seeing him depart a movie theater where he sought out warmth.

After caring for his ailing mother and seeing all his savings diminish, Raymond was forced to hit the streets.  Now he has a new apartment AND an agent!

Robert Downey Jr & Reese Witherspoon?

rdj1

What a gossipy blogger! No, Robert Downey Jr and Reese Witherspoon are not together! But the duo did spend lots of quality time together including their respective others, Jake Gyllenhaal and Susan Levin.

They had a fun double date hiking the Ojai Mountains in California the day after Christmas.
