Russell Crowe puts on his game face

Like a proud papa, Russell Crowe looks on as his team the South Sydney Rabbitohs as they retained the Charity Shield after playing out a 26-all draw with the St George Illawarra Dragons at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium in front of 27,221 members and supporters.

Crowe and his business partner Peter Holmes à Court purchased 75% of the South Sydney Club in March 2006.

The star of the upcoming Robin Hood film is very passionate about this team. South Sydney chief executive Shane Richardson spoke about him to The Sydney Morning Herald.

”History and passion is what Russell Crowe is all about. Russell knows more about the history of this club than anybody does,” Richardson said.

”He could tell you everything in detail. He’s amazing. It’s a bit of a dream of his to bring all this history to one place and celebrate it.

It’s been ages since I’ve seen any new pictures of Russell Crowe!  Here are the latest photo’s of him as he departs from a private plane at Sydney Airport earlier today.

The actor was returning from meeting with NRL boss David Gallop and South Sydney powerbrokers Shane Richardson and Nick Pappas to discuss an incident at a pub which resulted in South Sydney coach Jason Taylor being knocked out by player David Fa’alogo during an end-of-season party earlier this month.

Crowe is part owner of the National Rugby League (NRL) team, South Sydney.

I read that reporter’s thought it was singer Beyonce arriving via this private plane and were surprised to find Crowe. To be quite honest I prefer him any day!
