Like a proud papa, Russell Crowe looks on as his team the South Sydney Rabbitohs as they retained the Charity Shield after playing out a 26-all draw with the St George Illawarra Dragons at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium in front of 27,221 members and supporters.
Crowe and his business partner Peter Holmes à Court purchased 75% of the South Sydney Club in March 2006.
The star of the upcoming Robin Hood film is very passionate about this team. South Sydney chief executive Shane Richardson spoke about him to The Sydney Morning Herald.
”History and passion is what Russell Crowe is all about. Russell knows more about the history of this club than anybody does,” Richardson said.
”He could tell you everything in detail. He’s amazing. It’s a bit of a dream of his to bring all this history to one place and celebrate it.
