Russell Brand confirms split from Katy Perry

They spent the holidays 7,000 miles apart and had the gossip papers speculating that the end was near. Now, comedian Russell Brand is confirming that he and wife of 14 months Katy Perry are dunzo. The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday citing irreconcilable differences.

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends, Russell told CNN in a statement”

I must say….I really liked these two together at first. They really seemed to be well suited but after awhile it became so annoying the way they tried to prove to the world they were the perfect couple and how in love they were.

Most people, I dare say, have been expecting this moment at any time. It just got to a point where it all seemed so fake.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like both Russell and Katy as individuals but I doubt they’ve been truly happy in a long time!

Katy has yet to release her statement.

Russell Brand scores late-night show on FX!

As if Sons of Anarchy wasn’t enough reason to love FX, they give Russell Brand a new tv show and make my love multiply 100 fold? Variety broke the news today that the British funnyman has “signed a pact with Russell Brand for a new untitled six-episode late night series.”

I realize that folks here in the U.S. have had a limited amount of exposure to ol’ Rusty but as a longtime fan, I think he will do brilliantly in this arena.

EW is making sure that we all understand that this is not a “talk show” though it will be filmed in front of a studio audience. It will consist of Brand sharing his “unfiltered take on current events, politics and pop culture” drawing “heavily on interaction with that audience.”

“I am so excited I’m on the point of climax, in fact I will put the ‘O’ into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel’s real name,” Brand said. “That’s the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I’ll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bill O’Reilly.”

And because this bit of news wasn’t good enough, we need to alert Flight of the Conchords fans that producer Troy Miller is teaming up with Russell on this project set to air in the Spring.

Now if only he would bring Noel Fielding and/or Jonathan Ross in for an episode or two, it would amount to some of the best news all year!

To celebrate, I’m sharing a small gallery of images of Russell walking around Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California yesterday. Congrats!

Russell Brand takes a sip and smiles

With an iced coffee in hand, Russell Brand departed from Equinox gym in West Hollywood, California on Monday, July 18th, 2011. As the British comedian sipped on a delicious smoothy, his trainer walked besides him looking surprised at all the attention.

Ooh with Russell Brand back in Los Angeles, does this mean I will once again have a chance to meet him? I can’t believe that the whole time he was in Miami I had him only a few feet away in at least two instances but I have yet to properly be introduced.

What are the odds that Rusty might head down to Comic Con? #daretodream

Russell Brand and Diego Boneta Rock On!

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve posted an update from the set of Rock of Ages! I won’t go into details as to WHY at this time but you should know that getting photographs off the set has become increasingly difficult but OBVIOUSLY not impossible!

While Alec Baldwin has wrapped up his scenes (at least for now) we did score some images of him while in costume. The long hair and the outfit looked hilarious on him, so you can’t blame me for not recognizing him the first time I saw him in the get up.

These are also the first images of Russell Brand to come of him in a totally different look. Now that Alec is all done I’m worried that Russell too will soon depart from the Sunshine State without me being able to have said hello!

Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta have also been keeping busy with their scenes. Julianne had the opportunity to show off her fit body in a mid-drift baring ensemble which featured a short denim skirt and a fanny pack!

Talk about a flashback!

Diego showed off his toned arms in a sleeveless shirt and tank top with jeans. Que lindo!

We can’t wait to see the first images of Catherine Zeta Jones who has already been busy rehearsing for her role. I have not had confirmation of her on the set as of yet but it’s just a matter of time before she is spotted at work.

Russell Brand: Getting wiggy with it!

Much to the chagrin of production, these are the new photographs of Russell Brand on the set of Rock of Ages. The movie is currently shooting indoor scenes at Revolution Nightclub in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where it represents the club owned by Alec Baldwin’s character Dennis Dupree and run by Brand’s character Lonnie.

These shots were taken in between scenes as the British comedian enjoyed a bit of coffee or tea while in full costume. I’m loving his short-ish Rising Sun t-shirt that gives us a glimpse of his toned tummy don’t you?!

The best though is the wacky 80′s wig that looks a bit like what his hair looked before he became a huge hit in America. LOVE IT!!

It’s a shame that after all the time that he’s been in town and I have yet to say one word to him.  I’m confident it will happen though!

Russell Brand stays cool in sunny South Florida

Since I left the movie set early yesterday I didn’t get to see any of the cast when they moved production to Revolution Nightclub later in the day. Photographers who followed along were able to capture his arrival into Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011.

Brand looked relaxed (albeit surprised!) in an all white ensemble that helped show off the tan he must be getting while working all those hours in the hot sun.

Club Revolution is serving as the club that Alec Baldwin’s character Dennis Dupree owns and is run by Russell’s character Lonnie. I hope this means that both actors will be spending a good amount of time down here. (At least Rus since we hear Alec is not too happy to be doing the film)

Police have set up a large perimeter around the venue so its going to be difficult to get many pictures from the set. Plus we are expecting that much of those scenes might take place during the night.

During my time around the set I did not spot Julianne Hough or Diego Boneta who shot their scenes last week.

News from the Set: Rock of Ages

If the cast of Rock of Ages isn’t already tired of the scorching hot temperatures I give them another few days before they are! Being a native Floridian I tend to mostly stay indoors and avoid being out during the hours of about 11am to around 6pm when the temperatures are at their worst.

But with production mostly taking place around those hours I have been left with no choice!

Today’s shoot was really cute and took place at Boomers, a family entertainment center that has bumper cars, mini golf, video arcade machines and a giant wooden roller coaster that I don’t even think is in functioning order anymore! Regardless, said roller coaster was the backdrop for what looked like a re-creation of the Santa Monice Pier.

It was purely by accident that I arrived before any other nosey people did and I accidentally ended up on the set. It looked like a carnival setting with lots of extras in fun costumes and wigs. Before I knew it, I saw Russell Brand and his trademark wavy hair pop out during a scene and then I noticed a man beside him with longish hair that I could tell was a wig.

As he turned his face to the side I realized it was Alec Baldwin! Due to the nature of the shoot I didn’t dare take out my camera and because of where the shoot was taking place I knew it would be impossible for the paparazzi to capture any of this.

Luckily Adam Shankman, the director of Rock of Ages, sent out the photo above of Brand and Baldwin via Twitter!

Shortly thereafter it was time for their lunch break and I noticed they were setting up the mini golf area for the next scene. By this point though police weren’t too happy that people were around observing so I took that as my cue to leave. Alas, there will be plenty of other opportunities to check out the scenery as they have at least two more months of shooting.

Stay tuned!
