Russell Crowe seemed happy and carefree while jet skiing with billionaire buddy James Packer in Positano, Italy on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011. All this before controversy broke out as a result of a comment made by the Gladiator star regarding circumcision via Twitter.

‘Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect.’

People apparently were none to happy with this remark and began sending hate tweets over to Mr. Crowe! To be perfectly honest, I feel like he has a right to an opinion as others have to theirs. If you don’t like that he has to say than block him or “unfollow”. It’s really so easy!

He has since taken to the social media site to send out an apology.

“My personal beliefs aside I realize that some will interpret this debate as me mocking the rituals and traditions of others. I am very sorry. I have a deep and abiding love for all people of all nationalities, I’m very sorry that I have said things on here that have caused distress.”

This is why I choose to mostly keep controversial topics to myself and not send it out into cyberspace. You never know who will be on the other side reading.

So many celebrities have had social media work against them, since these days they are more accessible and they share their thoughts quite freely online. I’ve heard from so many about how much they loved and admired a certain star and really ended up disliking them due to their chatter on Twitter.

With everyone heading Down Under to help Oprah celebrate her final season, Russell Crowe joined fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman for the festivities.
