How cute will Simon Pegg look when he is holding his brand new baby girl?! The Star Trek star and his wife Maureen McCann welcomed their daughter a rep confirmed to US Magazine today.

No word yet where the baby was born nor her name. Though Pegg has said he hoped they would have their child in America so she could have a dual citizenship with their native England.

“It’s the most important thing to me,” he has said. “I’m very excited. I want to be a really good dad, a good influence and a good role model — someone my child can turn to, whatever the hell that means… It’s all to do with your attitude and making sure they stay grounded, but making sure they aren’t deprived of anything.”

I hope she inherits her daddy’s red hair!

Simon Pegg is announcing exclusively through his myspace blog that he and his wife of 3 years Maureen McCann are expecting their first baby!!

It seems that Pegg had been outed already by a journalist whom he considered his friend but alas the person wanted to sell papers! Pegg said to the journo last night at the Brit Awards:

‘My wife is five months pregnant. We haven’t announced it yet as we want to keep it hush-hush.

‘I’m hoping for a baby girl, but I really don’t mind what we have. We’re thinking of having it in America as the baby will then have dual citizenship.’

In his blog he asks that no one send them any gifts but if they were so inclined they could donate to a charity close to his heart.

“I just wanted to let you guys know and to ask you not to worry about sending us gifts. In the past, many of you have been very generous with birthday and Christmas pressies. Fact is, we’re running out of room and our house is about to get a whole lot smaller. If you do feel the urge to bestow a trifle, I have recently started to work with Nordorff-Robbins Music Therapy. It’s an amazing organization that seeks to help children suffering from severe illnesses and conditions such as autism, to reconnect with the world through music. Music therapy is a remarkable technique which is benefitting more and more people, as the organization grows.
