A Slumdog Millionaire reunion took place at The 18th Annual BAFTA/LA Britannia Awards held at The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, California last night. Stars Freida Pinto, Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor were all in attendance to support their director Danny Boyle who took home the John Schlesinger Britannia Award recipient for artistic excellence in directing.

Boyle spoke to media about the “surprise” hook up between Patel and Pinto!

The Oscar-winning filmmaker said: “I was a bit surprised at first, but then those things tend to pass me by!”

He added: “I’m delighted for them, they seem to be real soul mates….and I’m sure more than that.”

“I’m very happy for them – it seems lovely.”

What I want to know is who makes those gorgeous shoes Freida is wearing? Fab-U-losity!

Danny Boyle returns to Mumbai

Academy Award Winning director Danny Boyle returned to Mumbai where he met up with the child star cast of Slumdog Millionaire including Rubina Ali, Azharudin Ismail, Piyush Khandekar and their family members at Hotel JWC Marriot today.

Two of the children are in the news today due to their poor attendance records at school that could jeopordize their trust funds set up by Mr Boyle and Christian Colson to provide an education, living allowance and housing for the young stars, who grew up in the slums of Mumbai.

The Jai Ho Trust requires the children to attend school for a minimum of 70% of the time. Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 11, who played a young Salim is only showing up at school 37 percent of the time and Rubina Ali, 10, played the role of a young Latika has only a 27 percent attendance rate.

“It’s pathetic,” said Mr Dadrawala, who blamed the children’s busy schedules for their chronic truancy.

“They are constantly going to Paris and Cochin and Chennai,” he said. “That’s fine, but go over the weekend, not at the sacrifice of school.”

I love love love this couple together! I suffer from “seeing a couple in a movie and wanting them to be together” syndrome.

Freida Pinto and her on/off screen love Dev Patel introduced the Film 4 Summer Screening of Slumdog Millionaire at Somerset House in London yesterday. The pair join the crowd of 2,500 to watch the movie outdoors.

How sweet!!

Next up for Freida is the Untitled Woody Allen film that is currently in production in Notting Hill. Dev is also just wrapped up a new M. Night Shyamalan film entitled, The Last Airbender.

Gerard Butler spent a day hanging out with the cutie kids from Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday. The Scottish actor first met them while attending the Oscars earlier this year.

Rumors creeping out of India are that Butler is interested in beautiful Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. The 26-year-old is said to have thrown a farewell party for Butler on Thursday who has been in India for about a month scoping out filming locations.

Various local news are quoting Butler with having proposed to Chopra.

“I’d love to date an Indian girl.” When asked about his friendship with Chopra, he said, “I would’ve dated her but she has a boyfriend.”

She is rumored to be dating Shahid Kapoor, a fellow Bollywood actor who was also in attendance at this party and is said to not have minded Butler’s advances.

Whatever his reasons, I’m glad these lovely children have not been forgotten.

What is it about couples in movies hooking up in real life that we love so much? When we saw Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in The Notebook, so many of the fans of the film were so excited that they became a real life couple that most of us refuse to accept the fact their relationship did not make it. I think we like to imagine that their characters are living happily ever.

For now it seems another on-screen couple is very happily spending time together. The love story between the characters in Slumdog Millionaire has moved into the actors real lives. Dev Patel and Freida Pinto have been linked as a couple since at least February, but now we are seeing a photo that pretty much confirms the affection between them. The actors are currently in Israel where Pinto is shooting her latest film, Miral.

Rumors that Freida was married to Rohan Antao were never proven, but her ex is blaming Patel for their break-up.

“I don’t know if they were having a sexual relationship but if I came face to face with him I would have things to say. Now everywhere I go I see them on billboards. I am devastated,” he said.

Coming up for 19-year-old Patel, a role in M Night Shayamalan’s new movie, The Last Airbender.

***UPDATE: Dev Patel’s mother has confirmed the news that her son and his co-star are an item!***

“Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them. Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her.”

Mrs Patel added: “He’s just an ordinary boy. We’re very proud of him.”

To celebrate the release of Slumdog Millionaire, Anil Kapoor spoke with Ryan Seacrest today.  The actor who has over 100 Bollywood films under his belt, confirmed that he is currently in talks to guest star on 24.

“It is still under negotiations. Within a week ten days I will know where I stand.” said Kapoor

Nearly most of the stars of this sleeper hit have made major moves in Hollywood.   He jokes that even the kids are more famous than him now!

“I have to make appointments with all the children, they have all become such big stars.  I am the only available accessible star from Slumdog Millionaire!”

Anil is going to be honored with a retrospective at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles from April 21-26. The salute will include screenings of his films Lamhe and Virasat as well as the world premiere of the English-language version of Gandhi, My Father which he produced.

Pussycat Dolls visit Jimmy Fallon

Nicole Scherzinger & the fierce chicks known as the Pussycat Dolls performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night.  Even Jimmy seems to be overwhelmed by their ferocity!  He gets all nervous when its time to kiss them hello.

The ladies sing the English remix of Jai-Ho from hit movie, Slumdog Millionaire. At first glance I thought this song was them dissing Jennifer Lopez.  I got so excited!
