Can You Look Like Sofia Vergara and Janelle Monae? YES!

With red carpet season behind us, I catch myself glancing at my favorite photos from the various events looking for make-up inspiration for the spring/summer. Two of the looks that I liked the most were from Sofia Vergara at the Academy Awards and Janelle Monae from the Grammy Awards.

Both ladies kept their looks simple-yet-glam by adding a pop of color to either their eyes or their lips. This is the big beauty trend for the season: flawless skin while highlighting one feature.

Getting this look at home is pretty simple and you can achieve each one with nearly the same steps. Here is the breakdown of products and steps.

Sofia look 1

1. I put on Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream that is great for hydrating the skin. (not shown in photo)
2. With a foundation brush, I applied COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Soft Honey. This is their newest product and it left my face looking dewy and fresh! New fave! (photo 1)
3. Since eye shadow can fall on your face during application, I like to start with eye make-up. I used a combination of COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Silver Lilac and Purple Pop. (photo 2)
4. Next I used COVERGIRL LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire. (photo 3)

5. Another favorite product is COVERGIRL ClumpCrusher Mascara by LashBlast. This stuff is amazing and there hasn’t been a clump in sight since I started using it a month ago! (photo 4)
6. For blush, I used COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Natural Rose on the apples of my cheeks. The little blush brush that comes with the blush is perfectly sized to target the right spot. (photo 5)
7. To finish my make-up look I applied COVERGIRL TRUblend Minerals Bronzer in Golden Sunrise as a highlighter. I had never used this product before and I really loved it. The one tip I will give you is that a little bit goes a long way.

8. I washed my hair with Herbal Essences Shine Collection shampoo and conditioner before doing my make-up. (no photo)
9. White it was still humid, I added Herbal Essence Tousle Me Softly Tousling Styling Crème to my hair while scrunching it up. If you want it with deeper waves you can use a hair iron or hot rollers after the product is added.

As I mentioned previously, most of the products and techniques used on Sofia’s look will be used when getting Janelle’s Grammy look. Two things are different, instead of using purple eye shadow; we are using gold to keep it neutral since our focus will remain on the lips.

1. Follow steps 2-3 (after showering with Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash), using COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Golden Sunrise during step 2. The color is gorgeous and will look well on women of all shades. Just sweep across the lid with an eyeshadow brush or with the applicator brush that comes with the shadow.
2. Follow steps 4-6.
3. Using COVERGIRL LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Scarlet Twist, line your lips and then fill it in with the same pencil.
4. I’m so loving COVERGIRL’s nail polish collection and our girl Janelle used Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Ever Reddy. Give yourself a manicure that matches those sexy red lips!

Bang! Bang! Watch Out For Sofia Vergara’s Loaded Guns!

Sofia Vergara Machete Kills

It’s not like Sofia Vergara’s décolletage needed any more attention but Robert Rodriguez decided to take them to a whole other level! For his upcoming film, Machete Kills, the famed filmmaker has decided to turn the girly Colombiana into a bad-ass character named Lady Desdemona whose bra doubles as a machine gun.

You can be sure it’s not something Victoria’s Secret will be running to create for their stores any time soon.

“It was a whirlwind. She was willing to do anything and everything, Rodriguez said about the CoverGirl spokesperson and star of Modern Family. “She became this character. It was great fun for everybody.”

The highly anticipated sequel puts the spotlight back on our hero Machete (Danny Trejo) who is recruited by the United States government to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.

The film, which hits theaters on September 13th, also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Mel Gibson.

Steal My Emmy Look: Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara was golden at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, September 23rd, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. The Latina stunner hit the red carpet in a teal Zuhair Murad gown that featured a sexy open cut showing off her lower back. Sadly, Sofia suffered a wardrobe malfunction 20 minutes before going on stage with her cast mates to accept the “Best Comedy Series” award!

Yes!!!! This happend 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!,” Sofia tweeted with a photo showing a damaged zipper and her booty! (See photo in gallery below)

Don’t you find that a sense of humor during a challenging time makes a woman even more beautiful?!

Sofia rocked an easy, breezy look by make-up artist Kayleen McAdams who shares tips on how to get this look at home with new and classic products from COVERGIRL.

“The inspiration for Sofia’s look was chocolate and caramel!,” McAdams said. “Chocolatey brown eyes, caramel colored lips. With a dress like hers, I wanted her makeup to look delicious and sexy.”

I started by applying NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg #360 all over the face and blended into the neck. I then used TruConceal #4 under the eyes, around the nose and on any spots where needed. I finished with a light dusting of Clean Pressed Powder in Soft Honey and Cheekers Blush in Sierra Sands to set the base.

On the eyes, I started by applying Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in Brown Smolder all over the lid and followed that with the Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso just at the root of the lashes. I also used Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso on the bottom lashes and set that liner with Queen Collection 1-Kit Shadow in Copper Penny. I applied three coats of LashBlast Volume Mascara on both the top and bottom lashes to lengthen and add volume.

Sofia and I wanted to do something different on her lips, so we chose a shade that she never used before – and we loved the change. I tried tons of different lipsticks on my arm! We looked them all over and tried three different shades before finding the perfect one. I wanted the lip to look like caramel, so I added a little gloss. I filled in Sofia’s lips with LipPerfection Lip Color in Captivate, and then went back over the edge of the lips with LipPerfection Lip Liner in Smoky to fill them out and keep her lipstick in place. I topped it all off with Queen Collection Lip Gloss in Sugar and Spice just in the center of the lips.

“To keep Sofia’s look fresh all night, I gave her powder, lipstick, lip liner and gloss to keep in her purse. Sofia can’t live without LashBlast Volume Mascara, so I also keep my kit well stocked with extras.”

Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara bring Latina heat to the Glamour UK Awards

Leave it up to Latina beauties Eva Longoria and Sofia Vergara to heat up a red carpet! The ladies posed for photographers at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2012 held at Berkeley Square Gardens on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 in London, England.

The Desperate Housewives alum stepped out in the shade of the season: tangerine! The sheath dress was by Eva’s close friend, Victoria Beckham which she paired with nude Brian Atwood pumps (which accidentally broke during a quick trip to the powder room!). Sofia rocked a strapless Zac Posen dress that hugged her every curve perfectly with Christian Louboutin heels.

Both ladies took home honors at the star-filled event, Eva was awarded the for “Inspiration of the Year” for her charity work and Sofia won the “Comedy Actress of the Year” award!

The Modern Family star was having so much fun with her girls, she posted a photo via her WhoSay.com account which also includes fellow Latina Jessica Alba who was also a big winner last night. Alba took home the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award!

People en Español counts Sofia Vergara and William Levy amongst the “50 Most Beautiful”

Sofia Vergara has a bit of fun with Jason Sudeikis in new SNL promo

One of my favorite things about Sofia Vergara, aside from her amazing fashion and business sense, is how easy she finds it to laugh at herself! The Modern Family beauty is gearing up to host Saturday Night Live this weekend with musical guests One Direction and NBC has released a fun video with all the promos she shot alongside Jason Sudeikis.

I can imagine many of the skits will play off the fact that Sofia is a saucy Latina, has a heavy accent, and has an enviable bod admired by men and women alike but I hope they take her out of that element and do something really out of the ordinary with her.

Sofia Vergara strips for Esquire and gives advice on dating a Latina

If there was any human being left on the planet that would question Sofia Vergara’s level of sexiness, he/she is gone after the release of the April issue of Esquire Magazine. Shot by James White, the images show the smokin’ hot Colombiana in black lingerie, voluminous hair….and not much else!

As stunning as the photos are, my favorite thing is the article where the Modern Family beauty talks about “being with a Latina.” Even though I never lived in South America, I can either understand or relate to everything that she says.

Here are some of my favorite excerpts:

Oh, yeah. We’re very loud, Sofia said about the decibal level around Latinas. Ed O’Neill tells a funny story: When we were shooting one of the first episodes of Modern Family, our trailers were connected. So if I’m in my trailer screaming on the phone, he can hear me perfectly. I was having one of those “Oh, my God!” conversations with one of my cousins for twenty minutes. As soon as it ended, there’s a knock on the door. It’s Ed. “Sofia, are you okay?” I’m like, “What do you mean?”

“I thought maybe you were crying or having a heart attack or something.”

That is my life story…period.

Sometimes it can be bad to have too much family, the 39-year-old said about the importance of la familia to a Latina. Everybody gets involved in your problems, giving their opinion, gossiping, and making drama. But when bad things happen, they will be there to support you. Nick had a big accident a year and a half ago. He was in the hospital for a month. More people came to take care of me taking care of him than came to see him. He said, “Wow, this is amazing!”
