Gavin Rossdale wowed the fans in South Florida yesterday. Yes, the former Bush frontman is known for his rocking vocals and enchanting lyrics but did you know this guy kicks butt on the tennis court?
Rossdale spent the weekend in Delray Beach where he participated in the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic in support of the Chris Evert charities which fight against drug abuse and child neglect in Florida.
As a longtime fan of GR I was delighted to watch him practice with tennis great Martina Navratilova and snapped all of the shots in this story.
Gavin Rossdale and his wife Gwen Stefani seemed to have found the fountain of youth! The 43-year-old Rossdale showed off his toned body on the tennis court of his home in Beverly Hills on Saturday.
Late in the day the couple headed out to celebrate his wife Gwen’s 40th birthday at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood. These two don’t look a day over 35!!

I’m not sure what Jimmy Fallon or Anna Kournikova was saying, mostly because I kept having wipe the drool off my shirt all while my other 4 senses focused their energy on my eyes watching her, but I have to thank everyone involved at Late Night for getting her to prance around on the stage for just a little longer. Flight of the Conchords stars Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement participated in a charity tennis match like no other. The Jumbo Tennis tournament fundraiser for Wellington Tennis was held in their native New Zealand yesterday.
The comedic duo worked hard training for this charity match where the participants played with oversized tennis rackets.
“We’ve been out most days, but we’ve only had normal tennis size rackets, so we used ping pong balls, we’ve been drinking giant eggs,” says McKenzie.
Bret & Jemaine were beat out against some local competitors with a final score of 15-5.
“They must have been professionals because of the way they beat us,” said Clement.
“After this we are going to fly out and, I guess, keep tennis going in America,” quiped McKenzie.
The Season Finale of Flight of the Conchords will air this Sunday on HBO. No word yet if the boys will be back for a third installment, but we can dare to dream.
They have a new cd coming out on April 14th and will be heading out for a tour here in the U.S. I can’t wait because I’ve got tickets for their Miami show!
