*Update* It looks like Mr. Baltes may have been a bit premature in his post. Breaking Dawn may not be officially greenlit yet, I’m sure we’ll know for sure one way or the other on Monday. Way to get our hopes up buddy! Luckily, it’s still fun to predict casting and imagine how the folks at Summit (and maybe Sunswept) will create the iconic scenes readers have pictured in their own minds for so long.
While details are sparse as of yet, Alan Baltes has reported on his blog that Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book in the Twilight Saga, has been greenlit!! There will be several changes, like the addition of Sunswept Entertainment as an additional production company. Also, the production will be leaving Vancouver, and returning to Portland. Sorry Canada, this baby is comin’ home!
No word on whether the book will be split into two films as has been speculated in the past. Also no word of who, if anyone yet, has been signed on to return. Hopefully none of the original cast will be lost; everyone remembers the drama of recasting Victoria. We love Rachelle Lefevre and Bryce Dallas Howard, so no picking favorites here! There are plenty of extras and small roles to cast in this one. Fans have already thrown around names like Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchet to fill several parts of a group of visiting vampires. The big part to fill of course, will be that of Renesmee Cullen. In my opinion, her role will be the most difficult to cast (she’s so young after all), but the most pivotal as well.
Can’t wait to hear the details as they come out, but it will likely be a while before we here much. Principal photography isn’t set to begin until Septemer of 2010. At least our actors will have plenty of time to rest and/or take on more projects!
