U2′s The Edge enjoys breakfast on South Beach

After what turned out to be one of the best concerts in a long time, U2 rocker The Edge was photographed enjoying a bit of breakfast with a group of friends at his hotel in South Beach on Thursday, June 30th, 2011.

Luckily the storms cleared last night just in time for the bands 360° Tour held at Sun Life Stadium. Bono and the boys rocked out for a nearly sold out crowd that included Miami royalty Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio.

I’ve no idea how Bono was able to perform that long wearing a leather ensemble in this heat and humidity but my friends couldn’t gush enough about the show!

Up next for the mega band, a performance at the Vanderbilt University Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 2nd.

U2 & Jay Z: Legendary Duo in Berlin

U2 and Jay-Z – Are there any two bigger legends in their respected genres right now?

Earlier today, they teamed up for an honestly, amazing performance of U2’s version of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” at the MTV Europe Awards show in Berlin. Watching the video on youtube, I was literally overcome with goose bumps.

The moment that Bono introduced Jay as the mayor of New York, yeah, I felt a chill. Can you tell Jay-Z is one of my favorite artists? I still must say however, that Jay’s performance of “Lost” with Coldplay, tops this as one of my all time favorite rock/hip-hop duets.

Nonetheless, Bono and Jay-Z are as artistically amazing as any performer and put on as intriguing a show as anyone in the business. I have no doubt that those in attendance will remember the duet for a lifetime. Simply Epic.

It’s a beautiful day!

upiphotos919823-ny-street-named-forU2 fans, this is your week!

To celebrate U2′s week long performance on The Late Show with David Letterman New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled the street sign with a new name!  A section of Manhattan’s West 53rd Street and Broadway, across from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater has been renamed U2 Way!

“The boys are in town for a week long stint with the king of late night, David Letterman,” Bloomberg said. “And it’s a historic event for late-night television right here in the capital of late-night television.”

“It’s a beautiful day, to quote a famous Irish rock band,” Bloomberg said. “Everyone in this city, including me, considers these four Dubliners honorary New Yorkers.”

“No Line On The Horizon” is the bands first cd in more than four years.

“Somewhere south of Duke Ellington Way and north of Joey Ramone Place we find ourselves,” said lead singer Bono. “And we’re the band where the streets have no name.”

Well, I must admit that I made the mistake of reading someone else’sreview of this song before I wrote my own. Although, their review was pretty much what I expected from someone who gets paid to write those reviews after they’ve been sent an advanced copy of the album along with some goodies freebies. I’m sure over the next 4 years Bono and Obama will become like Ebony and Ivory, but U2 did what any capitalist (not that it’s a bad thing) attention fiend in the music industry would do. They took advantage of one of the largest national celebratory events and turn into a self-promoting vehicle. Performing at one of the Inaugural events, U2 decided to break away from their incredible repertoire to perform a song that nobody gave 2 Lincolns about. Get on Your Boots is probably the biggest disappointment since Joe Biden was picked for VP. Lyrics such as: Night is falling everywhere/Rockets at the fun fair/Satan loves a bomb scare/But he won’t scare you make you wonder if this is the same group that survived the 80′s! Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see the connection with getting your boots on… and whatever that means. GOYB takes me back to another pointlessly lyricized hit, Elevation, with an equally up tempo beat. Unfortunately there’s no memorable guitar riff, just an annoying hook that leaves you wanting to pull out your old U2 albums and lock yourself in a closet. Once you realize how ridiculous the rest of the lyrics are it pretty much ruins your chances of ever enjoying this song. To add insult to injury, it seems like whoever they hired to do their album art cover wasn’t very creative either. Here’s an article where a musician here in the U.S. is claiming they stole the artwork from one of his albums. Not that I’d be bragging about it.
